Chapter I- Trouble Brewing

BEEP, BEEP, BEEP! The clock’s alarm blasted. Raven’s eyes shot open, her body covered in sweat, her heart pounding in her chest. She uttered a short yelp, and for a moment, she thought the dream she had was real. “Stupid dream, if it wasn’t for that, I could have been sleeping right now.” She grumbled as turned off the alarm clock on her nightstand, it read 6:23 Am. She checked the pocket calendar as well, it was January 17th, a Saturday. It was unusually colder this morning, so she decided she might as well get dressed in something warmer than her night-clothes. She finally decided on a long-sleeved midnight-blue shirt, along with a pair of darker denim jeans. After brushing her hair and everything else, she walked downstairs. She knew Kai would be up already, she was always an early-bird, maybe she’d have Beast Boy with her. Those two were inseparable, best friends every since Kai had been recruited. As Raven stepped down from the last stair, she noticed that no one else was up. It was still dark in the living room, no to mention everywhere else. She was curious about where Kai was, she would be up by now for sure . . . but Raven didn’t bother looking over her shoulder until it was too late. “HEY RAVEN!” Kai shouted in her ear, Raven practically had a heart attack.
“Yeah, it worked! Score one!” a voice cried out, and as Raven turned towards Kai, Beast Boy grinned. Kai laughed hysterically behind him.
“I swear I’ll kill you two,” Raven mumbled, as she jabbed a finger in Beast Boy’s chest. He reacted with a quick chuckle, and Raven hugged his somewhat-bony frame. Kai rolled her eyes. She knew that Beast Boy enjoyed this kind of stuff.
“Hey, what’s with the racket?” a voice sternly whispered from the top of the stairs, it was Robin, and he looked like he’d just woken up. Beast Boy cracked up at the look on Kai’s face, she looked like she’d seen a ghost. Raven rolled her eyes and muttered,
“I wasn’t any part of this, yell at Kai.” Beast Boy noticed a small smirk on her face. Kai threw a playful punch to Raven’s shoulder . . . but she caught it in her fist right as Kai had flung her arm forward. Robin sighed at the trio, and said
“Now that I’m up, we might as well get everyone ready too.” Kai jubilantly cried somewhat loudly,
“Oh, oh, let me do this time!” but before she could even get an answer, the alarm blasted through the Tower, there was trouble going on. Soon enough, the other two members of the team, Cyborg and Starfire, raced downstairs as well. Even this early in the morning, the team was ready to face it all.
