::Eric glared at Darien as he came forward, eyes locked only on Candace:: “I see you’ve gotten my gift”:: He said, voice as soft as silk as he leaned closer to her, attempting a kiss:: “I-I-“ ::Candace was speechless as she looked at him moving closer. Eric stepped in, grabbing his Darien’s shoulder and gripping it tight::
::“You should know better than to go somewhere where you smell trouble”:: He said, shoving him into the lockers:: “I didn’t have a problem with that Alexa girl, but you are not starting things off on a good foot. So, what exactly are you after, bloodsucker?”:: He asked, pinning him up by the shirt. Candace was confused at what was going on::”Eric, what are you talking about?”:: She asked, looking at him, dumbfounded. Eric looked from Darien to Candace:: “They’re Vampires, Candace. I can smell them a mile away. It makes me sick. Alexa is one too, but you two are such good friends that I was going to just accept it and not say anything. Now, I see that there are others. He’s probably the same one that attacked me yesterday.”:: Darien looked at him:: “Please, I would not waste my time attacking you”:: He sneered::
::“Shut up.”:: Eric commanded, jerking at the vampire’s chest again. Darien only chuckled:: “What do I want? Why, only the heart of my one true love”:: He smirked and winked at Candace who blushed. She wanted to stop Eric, but couldn’t bring herself to it. Catching the wink, Eric wound up and punched Darien in the face:: “What are you playing at?!”:: Eric was furious now. Darien was really getting under his skin now:: “Sorry, Wolfy, but can you not see that we’re in love? Can’t you see she has no feelings for you anymore?”:: He continued to taunt::
:: “Shut up!”:: Eric wound up for another punch:: “Eric, stop!”:: The punch missed and hit the locker next to the vampire’s head, leaving a small dent from his superhuman strength. Alexa walked over from down the hallway and grabbed his wrist:: “Please let go of my brother”:: She said, looking over at him with glaring eyes:: “And if I refuse?”:: He snarled, his teeth becoming more dog-like. Suddenly, another hand grabbed his:: “Please, Eric, just let him go”:: Candace was now pleading with him. He was shocked, letting go of Darien’s shirt:: “C’mon, Eric, lets just go for now”:: She said, looking into his eyes. Eric pulled his hand away, his own eyes full of pain:: “No, why don’t you just go with your friends. I’m sure you’ll get along better with them if I’m not around”:: He walked away, up the stairs and towards the roof::
::”Well”:: Darien started, looking intently at Candace:: “How bout we go have a special Valentine’s Day, maybe, dinner tonight?”:: He moved closer, trying to grasp her waist. Candace moved back, her eyes now in tears as she slapped his hands away:: “Just leave me alone”:: She said, going to walk away:: “Candy?”:: Alexa went to grab her wrist, just barely grazing with her fingers:: “I want to be left alone”:: She shouted, running now, out the door::
:: Alexa went over and hit Darien:: “What was that for?”:: He asked, rubbing his head and looking at her:: “You are such a jackass, sometimes”:: She scolded:: “Go home and don’t stray. I’m going to give you a piece of my mind later, but, if you don’t go straight home and wait there, I’ll give you a piece of my foot as well, and you won’t like where I’m going with this”:: Alexa gave Darien a death glare. Hard to believe she was his younger sister, the way he practically pissed himself at the threat:: “Okay, okay, I get it”:: he said, scared witless. He left through the double doors and went out to the parking lot to drive home::
::Eric sat on the rooftop, staring down at the streets below:: “You don’t really wanna jump, do you?”:: Eric turned around to find Chris walking towards him:: “No, I’m not going to jump”:: He replied, staring off into space again:: “What’s wrong?”:: Chris asked, walking up behind him:: “You’d tell me I’m being stupid”:: Eric replied:: “No, I’ll tell you you’re being stupid when you deserve it, not when I’m asking what’s wrong in order to help you out”:: Eric then proceeded to tell Chris the whole story::
:: “I thought I smelled some sort of scum around here”:: Chris said, now sitting next to Eric on the ledge:: “Wait, did Candace get bitten?”:: He asked, actually sounding concerned:: “No, I could tell, she wasn’t pale or cold and she didn’t reek of vampire”:: Eric replied:: “Well, I’m sure everything will work out, but, if what you’re saying is true, there’s one more among them, and that’d be the one who attacked you”:: Chris had stood up again:: “Yeah”:: Eric had just realized what he said was truth:: “Well, let’s go get the girls. They’ll probably kill us for being late”:: Chris started walking back to the door:: “You go ahead, I’ll meet you at the car”:: Eric called. Chris simply waved an okay and headed down the stairs. When it was noticeable that he was gone, Eric turned back to the street below:: “You know I can smell you, so just come out already”::
::At that, Alexa stepped out from the shadows and walked forward to greet Eric:: “Hey”:: She said as he stood to meet her, not looking all too happy:: “Listen, I just want to apologize for my brother. He is just very competitive and he lets that get in the way. We’ve met with your kind before, and I know you have the ability of Imprinting. That’s what it is, isn’t it? You’ve Imprinted with her, haven’t you?”:: Eric looked at her:: “Yes”:: He replied, somewhat surprised at her knowing the ways of his people:: “I’m so sorry”:: Alexa continued:: “My brother is a jerk and I really hope you’ll forgive him. I’m going to talk to him when I get home and I-“:: Eric cut her off:: “It’s fine”:: He said, closing his eyes:: “Just, please, I need to go take care of something important”:: And with that, they went separate ways::
Candace had been home for a few hours now. She was still crying, but was able to put on a façade in order to fool her mother into thinking everything was okay. Her music was still blasting; a way of coping with her problems that she started ever since she met Eric, but, listening to the music made her think of him more and cry harder:: “Stupid mutt”:: she muttered through the tears:: Soon, a tapping could be heard at her window. She looked over, into the darkness outside and saw is face. Eric was at the window, trying to talk to her. She walked over, tears staining her cheeks and shut the blinds on him. Minutes later, Candace’s cell phone went off. She had a new text message which read:
Hey, sorry about what happened, at least open the window, I’m not outside it anymore ~Eric.
She went back to the window and opened the blinds, seeing a small book, she opened the window and brought it inside. Within the pages were a collection of pictures they had taken together, like the ones from the mall, along with little notes written to each other and drawings Eric had done for her. In the back was an extra long note meant specifically for her to read now. It read:
Candace,
I’m really sorry about today. I didn’t mean what I said, honestly, I didn’t. I guess I was so pissed at that guy and depressed from not seeing you all day that I had just had enough and snapped at you. I didn’t mean to. I love you. You’re my one true love. I just wanted to say I’m sorry.
Love,
Eric
::The tears stained the paper, but they were not tears of sadness. Candace rushed to the window, opened it and looked down at Eric who gazed up at her while leaning against a Black and Red Ferrari 599 GTO Mugello Concept that she didn’t exactly recognize:: “You’re so cheesy”:: She said, sitting on the ledge and looking down at him:: “Are you complaining?”:: He asked, still a bit worried that she was mad at him:: “No, but I will if you don’t get your mangy butt up here”:: Candace called with a smirk:: She didn’t need to say another word. In a heartbeat, Eric was climbing up to her windowsill:: “I really am sorry”:: he said, sitting beside her:: “I just-“:: Before he could get another word out, Candace had locked lips with him:: “Do you want to make it up to me?”:: She asked, looking at him with another smirk:: “More than anything”:: Eric replied, staring into her eyes:: “Then, tomorrow take me to that coffee break you promised me and I’ll wipe your slate clean”:: She said, giving him another peck on the lips:: “Alright”:: He replied:: “Well, I better get going before your mom comes in and freaks out. See you tomorrow?”:: He asked, looking intently at her:: “Of course”:: They shred a passionate kiss goodbye:: “Now get out of her, fleabag”:: She chuckled as he shimmied down and went to the driver’s side of the car:: “Wait, that’s YOUR car?”:: She asked, shocked:: “Yeah”:: He replied, smirking:: “A centuries old clan does inherit a lot of money over the years. What’ya think?”:: He asked, looking up at her:: “Well, it’s no Yellow 911 Turbo Porsche, but it is cool, I’ll give you that”:: Candace remarked with her own smirk. Eric laughed, waved goodbye and drove off. Candace went back through the window and decided to hit the hay::

And as my cheeks ran with cold tears, I noticed that they were not all my own. Rain fell from the dark clouds overhead, hitting my face.
At that moment, I realized something:
"Even the heavens weep for the dead."
