Memoirs of an Addict
Just...Stuff.
So, my mom’s birthday is coming up but I really don’t have a clue what to do for it. I bought her a children’s books collection that she always liked. I’d kind of like to be able to get her a hedgehog or a cockatiel but it’s not really the best of times to do that. Not with our current housing situation. She’s modest and always insists on not getting gifts for holidays and her birthdays but I feel obliged to do so. Besides she does a lot for me. And I never seem thankful but it’s hard for me to express my love an thanks to my mother; who in turn doesn’t express any back.

Frederick’s birthday will also be coming up the middle of March. I got him several little construction toys, I’m going to get him a big bag of play sand and hopefully also a sand box.

I’m so confused. How can people talk all this s**t about this and that being sanitary and then do the exact opposite? And if they’re questioned they pull some bullshit out of their a**. The people on the bearded-dragons.com forums always say how sand is so unhealthy for Bearded Dragons, and how all these chemicals are bad, that they need a habitat that’s natural, and all this crap. But in the wild the Bearded Dragon’s natural habitat comes from Australia. The ground there is a mixture of soil, clay, and small amounts of sand. So how can they say that my excavation sand (a sand substrate that when It becomes wet may be molded and will dry into a clay type of substance that’s near to impossible to break apart) is hardly safe or sanitary. Yes, Bearded Dragons in the wild would most likely never visit the same area more than once but if I’m regularly shifting and cleaning the substrate. I hardly think it’s that bad. They say how crickets are such terrible feeders and then suggest cockroaches? For a younger Bearded Dragon I hardly believe cockroaches are a suitable meal. Roaches have a waxy tough shell. And when I can’t even feed mealworms how are cockroaches safe. When they have sharp legs and mandibles!? Those could damage my Bearded Dragon worse than any cricket! They say chemicals this and chemicals that are so terrible for bearded dragons. And I understand why, I won’t even touch my little one without washing my hands beforehand. And I can’t have any soap residue, perfume or body spray, or even lotion on my hands. Then they say to clean the aquarium/terrarium/ habitat with a bleach/water mixture. How is that safe? When a Bearded Dragon needs light on for at least twelve hours a day and maximum of fourteen hours a day it’s not safe. When bleach come sin contact with high amounts of heat/light it releases toxic fumes. Those fumes aren’t safe for humans how is it safe for a reptile? I’d feel safer using ammonia! And then I’ve seen many people use a spray-on foam substance that they shape into rock formations for the habitat. But once the canned stuff comes in contact with high amounts of heat it also sets of toxic fumes. I want to know how they can say those things and then sue perfectly unhealthy and extremely dangerous substances in their Bearded Dragons’ habitats. Maybe there’s a trick to making it safe but when they just say sue a bleach mixture to clean their cage or spray-on foam for rock formations; any n00b will just do that. And there are most likely steps to do to make those things safe but they won’t say. And also there’s talk about the Nutro Dog food brand. They have released a “new and improved” formula of dog food onto the market. This dog food has been making dogs mortally sick. Some have died but thankfully not many. These people use Nutro because it makes it so the dogs don’t shed as much, don’t poo as much, and etcetera. But do you know how many chemicals and additives are added to the dogs’ food to create those results? How is that healthy?! Are you people ******** idiots!? I feed my cats and dogs both all natural blend of food (except the puppies) and including the puppies I know what all the ingredients are. And none of them are extreme chemicals. Of course you’re going to get some chemicals, preservatives, dyes, etcetera in dog and cat food (or even reptile foods) but there should be nothing worse than those. I don’t understand people. And everyone says how the natural brands are all terrible but you know our dog Shy (the Weimaraner that was abused and everything) will get diarrhea if we feed him anything else.

Well, Timothy’s puppy ahs gotten sick recently. The vet didn’t really say what it was but gave him a shot of cortisone, amoxicillin, penicillin, and then an antibiotic that needs to be administered twice daily. I hope he’s okay. And I think it’ll be pretty odd that both one of our dogs and Orca have an allergy around that house.
