Recently tomatoes have been pulled off of shelves because of a new strain of salmonella. I don’t understand why the hell companies and sellers do this. “U.S. health officials said there were no confirmed salmonella deaths linked to the outbreak, which was reported in at least 17 states. Fewer than 200 people turned up sick.” This is a far less prominent outbreak than Mad Cow. When the meat turned up carrying Mad Cow disease that started affecting humans; why weren’t those pulled? People can live with a little less fatty animal flesh in their diet for awhile. I’m a vegetarian; I know. It is possible. Why can’t the producers just not feed their cows other dead cows? Cannibalism has been shown to cause brain diseases with any species; humans; and that includes cows. But this disease happens to be contagious if the carrier is eaten. It’s like syphilis. It’s not hard to avoid feeding cows dead cows now is it? I’ve lived on a farm; I remember the cow feed having insects for protein; whatever happened to that?
Wichita has selected a new city manager. Guess what? Out of nine candidates he was the only interviewed; he was the default choice. And he makes $45000 a year. With a $125 month cell phone salary. I buy the minutes for my phone; guess what? Three-hundred minutes for thirty dollars is much cheaper than a cell phone plan. And those minutes only need to be refilled once every three months.
The Times and every other ******** magazine and newspaper out there needs to stop calling a mere sports “star” a “hero.” They are far from heroes. Show me how courageous a football player is? How dot hey overcome fear? Save the innocent? Be brave in times where bravery is near impossible? Show me how you find that a hero. Because they aren’t. Heroes died long ago with the days of ladies being courted rather than ********.
