There are a lot of random bits and pieces about Lore's people and Lore himself that really don't fit into anywhere and that get built up over time. These are things that may or may not come up into conversations, but might as well put it somewhere.
Democratic Political System:
Do not mistaken his people's system for something like the US, it is perhaps more similar to Athenian democracy where everything is argued about, generally those with the greatest power have the greatest influnce... and oh yes... no outsiders may have a vote. Females do have the vote, it's just only the ones who are really rich with time on their hands that tend to talk in the Sentate.
The Mutation:
What Lore and the others like him have is really simply a mutation that is occuring within his people. It's like an evolution put on high speed, normally as many of you know evolution takes a long time, involving genes that get passed down from only those creatures that survive, However you might also know that within a society of beings like humans or elves that kind of evolution is taken out because there is no such thing a survival of the fittest. However... it seems that isn't the case for once and there is something about the make up of Lore's people that allows their genes to adapt quickly to their surroundings. The Mutation then is the result of different hair and/or eye colouring that is not normally found among his people (see Lore's profile). It also makes them magically weak, they have their starting gift which tends to be non offensive, but in addition they cannot learn any other magicks beyond that.
The Disease:
For the past three or four centuries or so there has been a disease that strikes Lore's people, a kind of virus that latches onto magical beings (though the strain seems to target just his people) and suck the magic right out of them. The ending result that evenually through the ususal reproductive methods a virus uses it evenually kills the host, healing magic does not work since it only tends to feed the virus. The virus though is not attracted to people with low magic, in fact cannot sustain itself inside those type of people making people like Lore an evolution in survival, pity his people only see him as another disease.
Lore's Rune:
The rune under Lore's eye actually means 'tainted', there were children like Lore who were born with different hair colour but normal eye colour. It would be then quite possible for Lore to hide as a normal elf by dying his hair. However since the point of separation from the normal elves was to 'prevent the taint', there had to be a way to keep a track of them. All tainted elves then when the separation started they began marking all the elves. Lore was marked at the age of 12.
The Separation:
Elves born with unusual hair and eye colouring had become a common occurance, frighteningly so for a socieyt that valued it's magic and immortality. Thinking it was another disease (and for some reason thinking it of a larger threat than the first they were suffereing from), they thought if they could separate the 'tainted' as they were called that the problem would go away. Unfortunately no one realized that reall the so-called tainted were the new generation immune to the disease. Lore did, but nothing would convince his people that the answered lied in people like him.
