No... You're Not Jonin Poser!
Let me be clear... I have nothing against anime, manga or anything of the sort, I'm quite a vivid gamer in some ways, except in those online games, but still, I do like them. However I draw the line when characters in their make up and powers come straight out of anything of the sort! Unless it is a role play based off of the series.... then that is different... within limits. There are several problems with it, here are a few.

Setting:
As some of you might have read my rant about setting, having a character come out of a certain anime or game or whatever will clash with the setting because no one is ready to deal with that kind of character. I also draw the line of having a Mew Mew like character in a fantasy setting... that is just... ugh...

Godmoding:
The problem with having powers from anime and manga is that there is no doubt about it, but god moding will happen, because the original characters that have these powers are far.. far stronger than normal people, with powers that are pretty much impossible to counter unless you are like some other character from the show. My other problem with it is that because it's an actual ability people try to pass it off as not god moding, and then proceed to tell the people upset that they don't know advance roleplaying (actually happened with a Warcraft fanatic that someone got into a fight with). It does not matter... god moding is god moding, especially when you say you offed someone else's character.

Originality:
There is nothing original about basing a character directly from a show or game, now some people might argue with me and claim that their characters are 'inspired' by the show, but there is a great difference. Trust me, having an all powerful ninja that can use the Sharrigan Eye from Naruto is not original dammit.

So what is inspired? Well for example and I shall yank Lore out and dust him off for an example here:

Lore is a character inspired by Sephrim Inn, in where he has been ousted from his people not only because he was borned differently but because his people believed it was a diease and the only way to cure it was to separate those that were tainted. Now in the webcomic the tainted elves are mortal and have no magic, Lore is immortal, but he lacks powerful magics (he can only create light illuisions). In addition in the original there is a hint the elves were being punished for their sobbery, for Lore he's actually a result of evolution, because there is a disease killing his people, and for what he is, he is immune to it.

And that ends my six points about basic literate role play.
