Respecting Characters: Don't Tell Me What To Do!
It is fitting that the respecting another person's character comes after the entry about godmoding, because some of what people doing in godmoding is the result that they're so into making their character the greatest thing since peanut butter that they belittle (or even trample) over other people's characters. What do I mean by respect? I mean:

Do not kill other people's characters.

Honestly, the worst type of godmode is one where the person tries to inflict death upon another character without asking the person if they want their character to die. Even if you don't feel attached to your character, at least consider the fact your fellow players' characters might be in other places other than that thread, which means if you kill that character there are going to be upset people else where.

Do not change other people's characters.

Vampire and Werewolves species specially have the unique ability to turn someone into their race are the first thought in one's mind, but pretty much any time there is talk about changing a character well... just don't... there's a reason why the race is human, angel, or part squid.

Do not force solutions to other people's characters on them.

This one is annoying, since problems is what makes characters interesting, but just because the person tells you their problem does not mean you can give them a powerful solve all your problems item or whatever. Problems are often more complicated than that, nothing wrong in offering advice, or looking to a solution, but if the other player says it won't work or does not want it, don't force it.

Do not force a problem onto another character, claiming there is something 'wrong' with them.

I have this friend who in role play owns a talking large feline with wings, and some guy told her, her cat was cursed, how else do you explain the aura? Well... she tried to make it clear the cat was not cursed... pity the cat didn't bite his head off. This goes back to changing the make up of the character, by claiming that someone is cursed, you're explaining away whatever unusual quality they have and making them different, pain in the a**.

Overall just respect another person for what they want their character to be, I would say more about it, but what I have in mind has to do with godmodding and a moron I'm Better Than Thou, which I shall save for a rant later.
