Chapter 8

I woke up. I saw Max staring at the floor.
"Are you okay Max?" I asked.
Max looked up, than at me.
"Thank God your awake." Max said with relief.
I touched my cheek where the scratch was. I felt a band-aid shaped as a 'x'.
I starred at Max. He had a little bruise on his cheek.
"What happened to you?" I asked.
"Well, this is what happened."
*Right after you got knocked out, I got angry. Then I kicked him off me, and
started to kick him on the ground. When I saw his body lifeless, I went to check
on you. Then your mom came out, and saw you on the ground. Then she grabbed
a towel and her car keys and took you here, at St. Dove Hospital.*
"Where's my mom now?" I said confused.
"She went to get you some things to feel better. You need to stop worrying,
and get some rest." he said calmly.
It's sweet how he always thinks of me. So I went to sleep and get some rest.

I woke up, still in the same room. But there was roses, get-well cards, candy,
and I notice one black rose hiding behind some red roses and balloons. I got
up from the bed and looked in the mirror. The band-aid was still there, but
it didn't cover it well. Stupid hospital. Then I went to the black rose. From
looking at it, it'll be crunchy, but when I felt it, it was as smooth as the other
roses. There was also a small card. It was from Max. It said:

"I know how much you wanted a soft, black rose. So...here you go. Lol. If I'm
not here, then I'm with your mom getting some stuff. I'll see you later.
Get Better! =P
Max"
I had a smile on my face. I went to look at the other cards. When I read the names,
I knew none of them. There was: Danny and Tyler,Ren, Katlin and Kaylin, Alen,
Chance, Crimson, Tommy, and Alex. How would anyone know me? I heard
someone coming so I went back into the bed and pretended to sleep. A
doctor and a girl came in with a balloon and a card. She had a hat on, a black
shirt, and a skirt on. She had a hole in the back of her skirt. That was
embarrassing. When the doctor left, a raccoon tail came out of the hole,
and she took off her hat, and raccoon ears popped out. She was half animal
too. She looked at me, and I closed my eyes really quickly. She looked at me
strangely, then she left a balloon with a smiley face and the card on the counter.
Then she went to the counter and put her hat back on. Then she walked out. I
got up and went the the card she left behind. Her name was Piper. I looked
outside the window, I see more people coming in the building. But I saw Max
running to come in the hospital. I got excited. Then suddenly, the door opened.
It was Piper. She saw me standing at the window.
"Oh, I'm sorry, I should of knocked first, but I thought you were sleeping. But
anyways, We need to get you out of here! The Snapshots are coming to get us."
she explained.
My eyes widen.
"Who's us?" I said confused.
"Different half animals, like tigers, leopards, foxes all of them! Lets Go!" Piper
explained.
I ran to the door, then stopped myself. I looked down to see if my necklace Max
gave me was on. It was there, so I ran out of the door. Piper and I were running
down the hall, Max was going to our opposite direction.
"There coming behind me," Max said," run the other way!"
We stopped and ran the other way. We were almost to the elevator, but the
soldiers caught up. Only one of them had a gun. He shot and missed. The elevator
door opened and we ran in it and hid by the buttons by the side of the elevator.
The doors closed. We were safe. For now. eek
