Sometimes I get up on my soap box and sometimes I have to get off of it. I don't like heights and all that. But the thing is mostly I am a laid back person. I don't create much of a fuss. If you want my fussiness I guess this journal is where to find it. But today I am off my soapbox so I don't have to take something for my fear of heights and I just want to talk about something simple. Like fishing.
Yah! I do like fishing. I am not very good at it but I do like it. I am not one of those avid fisherpersons who likes to get out there with a ton of gear and fish for the monster fish. I like pan fish. Crappie (not to be confused with Crappy because they don't sound the same and besides crappie is one of the best tasting fresh water fishes I have had). , Brim, bass are about my favs. they are easy to catch and easy to clean. I don't care for skin fish. Don't bother fishing for them either. They are too big of a hastle for me. I would rather just have the simple smaller fish.
when I go fishing its almost always with someone. I used to go fishing alone when I was in highschool. When I couldn't find someone to go with me that is or when I just wanted some space. I seemed to like having space. Sometimes I needed it. But I did have two fishing buddies when I was 13-15 years old. David and John were great fishing buddies. We never caught anything when we went fishing together though. I don't know why. I think it was because they always went to their fishing holes and not mine. I almost always caught fish when I was alone.
One time I went fishing on my own at what I thought was my most secret fishing hole. It was a regular pain in the butt to get there. So most people didn't bother with it. I was doing really well and had about 6 perch on my stringer and then up to the top comes this little head with little eyes. And you know that in the south there is just as big of a chance as it being a snake as a turtle. The head was black and not green. I took out of there like a crazy child and left all my gear there. Ashamed that my gear and fish were lost to a nasty old water snake (these are poisonous), I didn't tell anyone. About a week later John comes to school to tell me that he will be over that evening after school to bring me my gear that I left there. Talk about turning several shades of red. He knew the gear well enough to know it was mine and he knew that if I left it there I had to have been chased off. I wasn't scared of much but water snakes were and still are one of the few things I am scared half to death of. Have one get in a boat with you sometime and see what I mean. Anyway, all these years its been a big joke on me that there was something at least I was affraid of. Doesn't bother me much anymore though because I am after all a woman now. What really got me though was he knew where my secret fishing hole was. A gals secret fishing hole is a gals secret fishing hole. She doesn't want to share it. But after he was so kind to find my gear and return it to me I was a little better at sharing my spot with him. He got to keep it when I moved a year later. lol
