I haven't been feeling good. But I have been thinking about something. I joined a guild for people my age the other day and we were talking about the way cartoons used to be. When my youngest boys were little we would walk home after preschool and sit down with a bowl of popcorn and watch cartoons. Cartoons made for children their ages. We watched Little Bear, Winnie The Pooh, and Franklin. All programs made to teach lessons and sooth the little rug rats. Don't get me started on Rug Rats. Although it was cute it was more of a problem then one might think.

Anyway back to the subject at hand.

I would hold whoever seemed to need it most and the other one would be nestled beside me. They would each take a couple pieces of popcorn in their tiny hand and eat it while sleepily watching the cartoons. They were quiet and cute and sweet and happy. Their little faces shining from just being washed from when we first walked in the door.

Those were good shows and those were good times. They were filled with love. They were the days when those two boys still thought the world of each other and still thought all little boys were the same and liked the same things. Today those two are 13 and 14 and very different. Sometimes they don't get along so well. They are very different. Too different really. They know this and they hate this. Every once in a while I can see the true brotherhood in them. I have no doubt each would defend the other. I miss those days when they were little though. They were precious. Very precious.
