Chapter 6: The Worldgorger
"When the Plane of Earth was very young, the planet was at peace, Elves had not yet begun their reign and the WolfGar were not yet born of Lathia and Morotos. A small group of Humans were the largest race to inhabit the planet. And they lived in peace. But one night, one of the humans found an artifact that lay buried beneath the earth, one that the god Omeria had left there from the very beginning, one that was not to be found.
The human changed from then on, he became a monster hated by those he was closest to. He began to morph, and soon his features resembled what hideous evil lurked within. Within a few years, The human was complete and he was no longer satisfied with devouring what he could in the camp...he craved more. He started to devour the very earth itself spreading plauge and famine, causing destruction to everything and anyone he touched. This monster roamed the earth until the very land cried out for help. Feeling her hand in this the once silent Omeria, decided to put an end to the madness. She called forth four souls, a young Human Female healer, a Male WolfGar warrior, for at this time the WolfGar had begun their rule of the Plains, a Male Half Elven outcast that had tried to destroy his village, and a Female Chetraan priestess. They were assigned the task of bringing the creature to it's death at the Plane of Souls. The four understood none of this but nevertheless, they set about their duty, collecting the peices of the monster's victims and restoring what they could on their quest to destroy him. Finally they found the creature and in one great battle that shook the Planes themselves, the four were able to kill the demon, but in doing so they forfieted their lives."
"So in order to kill the creature the four had to sacrifice themsleves?" Naiya nodded and looked away, saddened.
"Now you know my Desciple, will you still undertake this task?" Rayne stood and began to strap on her gear.
"But as I have said Desciple, you cannot do it alone!"
"My lady, Drop will not let his home be destroyed as Seehti won't.....and Set himslef has said that by his hand and his alone will the Paladin fall, so he will fight if only to keep his prey. I don not feel as if I shall do this alone."
"Desciple?" Rayne turned to look her goddess in the eye a slight smile on her calm face.
"My lady, it seems that for the sake of Man...the Tear will fall."
The dawn broke clean and grey, as Rayne set out with only a pack of food and her weapons, leaving behind the village that had accepted her to embark on a journey that could very well claim her life. The wind that blew ruffled her dark green hair in a motherly gesture as she turned North to the Fort of Candlekeep, and the Paladin Drop.
