The Other Side of Me
A Look Into My Random Thoughts
good Things Come To Those Who Wait
When my hubby was in the Air Force we learned quickly that the one thing we would learn to do is hurry up and wait. Meaning we might be expected to be some where "like yesterday" but we may have to wait for hours or even days to do whatever the objective was. Like see a doc or whatever.

However lets skip the doc option here and go on to better things. I know that I often have to wait if I want something special. Over 20 years ago I was making plans to go to Hot Springs Arkansas. Don't knock it until you try it. Its a wonderful place nested in the mountains. I didn't get to go there until this last autumn. It wasn't exactly how I envisioned it but it was lovely all the same. I plan to go there again in about 4 1/2 years.

Its always been worth it to have what I really want. Things take time. Sometimes you don't have room for what you really want. Sometimes its the money. Sometmes things just get in the way. But oh when I do get it, its all the sweeter. I have been dreaming of a china cabnet since I was about 17 years old. I still haven't gotten it but I have a feeling I will. Maybe not the one I originally wanted but I bet it will be beautiful.

I made the mistake of giving my first two children whatever they wanted as soon as they asked for it when they were little. Starting with my oldest son. The first time he ever asked for something I bought it right then and there. It was a little plastic three wheeler that he could push himself around on with his feet. It was red and black. That was one of the biggest mistakes I ever made. I did something similar with my next child. And I ended up paying for that for a very long time. They thought they could have whatever they wanted whenever they wanted it. This is a bad lesson to learn. Its not good for anyone to think they can have everything whenever they want. This teaches a lack of responsibility, lack of patience, and selfishness.

Now I didn't do this with my other two kids. Joe and Kyle are good boys who aren't spoiled and know that if they really want something they will eventually get it in time. And they might have to help earn it. Its always been that way for them and
always will be. They are more patient, more giving, and more responsible. And they didn't have to work at that.

Those attributes Joey and Kyle have were not easily won but Jon and Leon. They had to learn the hard way how to be that way. They now know that good things do come to those who wait and those who don't wait usually end up with something they really don't like or want in the end.
