Ohh, how I detest stupid people. Not stupid in the normal sense of the word, but stupid in the 'I'm-an-over-zealous-gay-hating-b*****d' sense. I'm sure most of you know at least one of those people. There are quite a few of them (usually christian, but I won't go as far as to say that all christians fall under this category, because I know some very loving ones who don't) and they like to state their opinions loud and clear.
The fact is, people really should be more open minded in general. And okay, it may sound like I'm an over-zealous homophobe hater, but I just think that homophobes should leave well enough alone. If it's impossible for them to accept homosexuals, they should simply mind their own business instead of trying to alter the world to their liking.
There are a few terms I would like to discuss in reference to this. Calling homosexuality an illness is pretty rude. No one would say, "Hey, you're heterosexual, there must be something wrong with you!" Likewise, there is absolutely nothing wrong with homosexuals. Saying we need to be tolerant of homosexuals is wrong too. I agree that tolerance is a step in the right direction, but it is not preferable to any degree. Because is it not true that tolerance is for things you wish weren't there? Acceptance is what we need to have. We need to accept that homosexuals are virtually normal and that they have a place in our society. We need to accept that they don't have an illness or a choice about the matter and they're not going away any time soon.
And we need to accept that real bisexuals exist too. Too many people think that bisexuals are only greedy or confused. I concede that some are, but some are not. The sooner that fact is acknowleged by the masses, the better.
Now, even if you don't agree with my views, at least maybe this journal entry will make you think about your views. Discrimination is still a huge problem in the United States and other countries around the world, and not only toward the gay population but also many races and still (more rarely) women. I think that for our species to survive, we must do away with discrimination and hatred. What do you think?
