Everything's been kinda going downhill lately.
A few weeks ago, everything was okay in my life, but some b***h had to go and ruin it by spreading really bad rumors about me. What's a poor girl to do when she feels all lonely and angsty??
Well, that's easy... write a short story about it, of course! ^_~
Once upon a time in the Land of Devon, there was a prince by the name of Yoshitaka. He was a cross-dresser, so everyone simply referred to him as Maora-sama.
First, Maora was engaged to a prince called Fletch, but this prince was very dark and controlling. He also had no clue that Maora was actually a guy. So, she revealed her secret and tried to break off the engagement, but he wouldn't take no for an answer. Finally, she had to hint that she was a straight male who had cheated on him once with a random princess, even though she hadn't. That was the end of that, or so she thought.
A few of her fellow Lords and Ladies decided to stop speaking to her, but she figured it was only because they were loyal to Fletch, so she was saddened but didn't let it affect her too much. Within a month or so, Fletch decided they could be friends and got engaged to a real princess named Ashe. Now that she was single and it looked as though Fletch had moved on, Maora had her eyes set on a certain prince, Prince Phineas, but the trouble was that he was on a very long journey to his mother's kingdom, and would possibly never return.
Now, for this to make sense, the reader must know that Maora had a few very good friends in the court, and their names were Nana, Jaslene, Lea, Jeanne, Geoff, Edward, Hamlet and Remy.
All of Maora's friends knew that she was really a guy, and none of them cared one bit. In fact, Geoff and Remy began to develop feelings for her! Maora was so confused, but by this time she had given up on Prince Phineas, so she decided to give them both an equal chance. At the last minute, Geoff backed down for Remy's happiness, and so it was that Maora was engaged to Remy.
But Remy lived in the neiboring kingdom, and stopped coming to court so often. In fact, he barely wrote Maora! So, with a heavy heart, she came to the conclusion that an engagement was impossible. She broke it off immediately. She could tell that it hurt Remy, but he promised they would remain friends, and that made her happy.
The problem was, since he had backed down, Geoff had become very sullen! Maora spent loads of time with him, so she felt saddened to know that she had most likely contributed to his pain. Trying to cheer him up proved useless, and Maora settled into a semi-depression herself.
Through all of this, Nana, Jaslene, Edward and Jeanne all provided excellent council for Maora. Nana suggested waiting for Prince Phineas' return as did Edward, and Jaslene and Jeanne both were excellent shoulders to cry on. Maora felt a little weird talking to Lea, because she was always absorbed with her betrothed, Hamlet.
An important fact the readers must understand is that Princess Lea was the cousin of Fletch. Fletch hated her for a reason unknown to Prince Maora.
Then, the return of Prince Phineas! Oh, what confusion quite swept Maora's heart! And just as she was ready to treat him like all the other courtiers, she was sent news of a letter that passed between Fletch and Phineas; a letter implicating that while she was engaged to Fletch she had been having a three month affair with Lea! The shock! The horror!
Of course, Phineas probably hated her for Fletch's sake, as they were quite close friends. This did not bode well, and though she only hoped for friendship at this point, that was beginning to look like an impossibility!
She quickly set about straightening out the situation with Fletch. He accepted after a few letters and explanations that this was wrong, however, he had believed it from the very week they split until now! Maora suddenly realized why the lords and ladies wanted nothing to do with her. She went to Lea to tell her what happened too, because it surely would tarnish her reputation also. Lea acted shocked as well, and Maora decided to discover who began the terrible rumor.
It was that afternoon at the court, however, that she saw Phineas for the first time since he had returned. Her breath caught in her throat, and though she glimpsed him, she doubted that he had noticed her.
Maora's resolve was strengthened. In the morning she had Jaslene talk to a Lord and a Lady who believed the foolish nonsense, and both claimed that they had heard of it from none other than Lea herself! Maora was once again shocked. She didn't want to believe it, but tried to confirm it with Fletch. He claimed it was she who told him as well.
The evidence was stacking up against Princess Lea. Maora was still avoiding Phineas. She also had no idea what to do about Geoff. As an attempt to persuade Maora that it wasn't true, Hamlet dined with her alone. They talked of many things and by the end of it all, her resolve to clear Lea's name was firm, even though both she and Nana felt as though Lea's eyes told them she was lying as she furiously denied.
To be continued... (when my life gets even more twisted xp )
