My Fragile Decay
When I start to
Ponder again
The way some things
Should have been,
Hold me close and whisper
In my ear
All the comforting nothings
I need to hear.
Then the nightmares and insecurities
Float away
So that I can go on
For one more day;
Carefree and content
With you by my side,
I'll be there so in me
You can confide,
Until, stealing upon me,
My past returns to haunt
Or the pain becomes too much to bear,
Overcome by sheer want.
If you stay with me
A moment more
And ignore the blood stains
On the floor,
I promise I'll attempt
not to cry
when the time comes
to say goodbye.
When I start to
Ponder again
The way some things
Should have been,
Hold me close and whisper
In my ear
All the comforting nothings
I need to hear.
Then the nightmares and insecurities
Float away
So that I can go on
For one more day;
Carefree and content
With you by my side,
I'll be there so in me
You can confide,
Until, stealing upon me,
My past returns to haunt
Or the pain becomes too much to bear,
Overcome by sheer want.
If you stay with me
A moment more
And ignore the blood stains
On the floor,
I promise I'll attempt
not to cry
when the time comes
to say goodbye.
