Take time to fish out the guppies.
Dreams (exchange 35)

The small village of Gheard on the opposite side of the forest instantly warmed up to Jaelin when he appeared out of the blue on that warm summer day. Its townsfolk adopted him into their meager, yet humble culture. They were self-supportive in almost every aspect, save for that of foreign wares and outside news. Everyone performed the task they were best at. Everything normally purchased was distributed amongst each other with those in greater need first in line to receive it.

It was a greedless, selfless system that he fully appreciated. As a way of self-initiation, Jaelin hired on as a blacksmith's apprentice. He quickly became skilled with metalworking and became Gheard's secondary smithy. This strenuous profession and his particular gift in it earned him the wide attention of the village girls, for which he never regretted.

At first, Jaelin continued to dream about Amara. The day that drove him away from the city often returned when he slept. But in the end, it was not long at all before she faded from his dreams altogether....

He was oiling the edge of a longsword his master had smithed at his request with his oilstone when a knock at the door drew away his attention. He set aside the stone and sword to open his front door.

"Amara? Is that you?"

She knew it was rude, but she was staring. It was obvious that it was Jaelin who answered the door but he looked very different than he had back in the city. His delivery work had leant him a muscular frame, but blacksmithing had done even more wonders. The gleen of sweat on his brow made him appear healthy and well off. He certainly looked well fed.

Almost instantly she regretted coming, however. Seeing him face to face reminded her of the bad terms in which their last meeting had ended. It also made her remember that they were little more than strangers.

"Yes... It's me," she said quietly. "I didn't know where to go... and I didn't have time to send a letter ahead of me." She was stammering a little, trying to find a non-rushed tone. She took a deep breath, knowing she wasn't making much sense.

"I'm sorry to just show up like this. The Baron passed away, and the Baroness has taken control of his household again. The first thing she did was turn me out. I didn't know where else I could go... maybe this was a mistake... I'm sorry..."
