The Outlet of Unusual Talent
Close call
I have a friend who is new to the school and in the band. He's alot like the people I hang out with, so maybe that's why he fit into my mob so fast. the only difference is that he is diabatic. He has type I diabetes, meaning that he needs to give himself five needles of insulin a day and has to eat specific meals at certain times of the day. Every day for the rest of his life. He needs every bit of his food, other wise he would go into a seixure/coma and die.

Yesterday, someone took his banana.

To people without diabetes, it may not seem like a big thing, but to him, that half of a banana meant life or death. Literally. As he found out it was late into lunch hour and almost everyone had already eaten, so no one had a banana he could buy off them. He was going to pay a dollar for a half a banana, because some dumbass took his. I saw him wandering around the gathering area and asked him what he was doing. He told me and I was shocked. That was the first rule when he sat down with us, his lunch is his alone, no one takes from him because it was lethal.

So there we were, walking around asking everybody that we knew and lots of whom we didn't and no one had a banana to spare. He went to the office to call the hospital, and I ran to the cafeteria to see of the food lady had one. She did.

I ran back to the office where he was waiting to use the phone, with an irritated look on his face too, and he practically ran back to the cafeteria. The food lady declined his one dollar offer on her banana and instead just gave it to him.

Crisis Averted.

Lesson learned:
Don't steal Codys food.

((Riley, don't throw the crackers on the floor either, he needs those too...))
