Yukio, Yumi, and Shippo lay awake talking about where they thought Kaede had gone. Yukio’s ears perked up. "What is it Yukio?" Yumi asked concerned about Kaede. Her and Kaede had formed a bond over the past few weeks, like a sister bond. Yukio got up when he saw a figure of a girl run past the room. Yumi reached over and grabbed her sacred stick, as she called it. "Kaede is that you?" Shippo called out. A sigh could be heard from outside the door. Kaede walked in. Yukio and Yumi gasped and Shippo seemed upset. Kaede’s dog- ears were gone and so were her sharp teeth. Her nails were normal length. Her hair looked more like her mother’s now because it was shorter. Human ears were at the sides of her head. Kaede sat down in the corner and pouted. "Kaede, is that you?" Yumi asked as she approached her. Yukio asked her to come into the light but Kaede refused. "We can’t tell what you really look like from there," Yumi said. Shippo then transformed into what Kaede looked like as a human. "This is what she looks like," Shippo said a bit agitated. Kaede finally came into the light and sighed. "Sorry I didn’t tell you Shippo," Shippo turned his head to Yukio and Yumi.
"I’ll tell you why she is a human now. Kaede’s father was a half demon because his mother was a human and his father was a demon. Kaede is ALSO half demon but only because when her parents, umm, ‘did it’. InuYasha was said to have gone ‘full demon’ in the bedroom. Anyways…"
"EWW!!" Kaede cut him off with her antics her eyes went around in circles before she almost threw up. Shippo continued.
"Anyways, when there was the first full moon, he turned human. Since Kaede’s parents both have human in them, this made her transform when the first half- moon is of the month. This starts when the half moon comes up, and when the moon goes down and the sun comes up," Shippo said trying to be wise. Kaede just rolled her eyes and changed the subject.
"You guys want to go swimming tomorrow?"
"You mean bathe?" Yukio asked.
"No! Like just swim! Yumi I have an extra suit for you to wear," Kaede exclaimed.
"What will we wear?" asked Yukio and Shippo.
"I don’t know…be creative," Yumi said in a seductive voice.
Yukio sat in a trance. He then scooted beside Yumi. Yumi was talking to Kaede when she screamed, "GET YOUR FILTHY HANDS OFF OF ME YOU PERVERTED DEMON!" Yumi screamed at the top of her lungs. Her hand came and met Yukio’s face in one swift move. Making a huge hand mark on his face.
"What did he do?" asked Shippo.
"He touched my a** the perverted b*****d!" Yumi shouted. She slapped him again and he fell to the ground. Kaede laughed, "You and Miroku will get along very nicely, Yukio!" Shippo and Kaede were the only ones laughing because Yumi was too busy clenching her fists and Yukio was struggling to get up off of the floor.
Reuntited at Last
Yukio and Shippo stood beside the lake with awkward looks on their faces. They had bought old cloth from the village and tied it up and around their wastes so that they were covered and would be able to swim. Yukio bent down and touched the water with his huge index finger’s talon. His body was then forced into the water by two pairs of hands. Bubbles floated to the top of the cold water and Yukio came up for air. He flipped his drenched black hair away from his eyes to see who pushed him in. Kaede’s hands were on her knees as she was gasping for air from all of her laughing. She was back to her old hanyou self again. She wore a black halter swimsuit that said on the front in Japanese: Devil. Yumi stood beside Kaede with her hand covering her mouth in anticipation to stop the laughter. She wore a red bikini. Her white hair was put up in a bun with her two back streaks hanging down. Yukio was caught in her beauty. Shippo was also laughing himself to death. Kaede then ran over and pushed Shippo in as well. Then Yumi and Kaede jumped in with laughter.
The boys got out and went to get changed. Yumi was talking to Kaede. "Kaede there is something I need to tell you..." Yumi was about to continue when Kaede shouted,"Oh no! Our clothes! They are going to take them to get back at us!" Yumi's confession would have to wait. Yumi jumped out as the boys got out, so that she could grab her and Kaede’s clothes. As Kaede waited for Yumi to come back, she swam farther out into the lake. She dove under the icy water. As she made her way to the bottom, she scanned the bottom for anything interesting. Something caught her eye. It looked like a crystal ball and it was the size of her finger-tip. She held it in her palm. It then started to glow a blue color. The crystal ball bursted into blue flames and spread out onto the bottom of the lake. One flame caught Kaede’s finger. She swam up to the surface for air so that she could check her wound. She looked at her whole right hand. It was covered in blood. Kaede’s eyes went red as she turned her head to the unaware Yumi. When she saw Kaede’s face she grabbed her weapon. Kaede was about to lung towards Yumi but was stopped when her arm started to go red. Her eyes went back to normal. Kaede then passed out.
Kaede woke to see Yumi sitting beside her and Yukio standing over her. Her arm and hand were dressed in bandages. She got up and rubbed her head. She was just about to ask what happened when a scream was heard. Everyone turned their heads to a mad water sight. A huge water demon was attacking the village near by. Kaede grabbed her bow and arrows and dove into the water. Yumi hopped on Yukio’s back with Shippo on Yumi’s shoulder. Kaede dove under to try to find the demon’s weak spot but was pulled back by a huge claw. She turned around to see the demon crushing her body. With one of it’s other five claws, it ripped Kaede’s bow and arrows to the surface on the ground. Kaede’s claws sunk through the demon’s hand but it didn’t effect it’s grip. It swung Kaede around in the water. Kaede still tried to escape but it was no use. She finally ran out of breath. Her body loosened and she just floated in the water still in the demon’s grip. It’s clutch was then torn away and Kaede was released. She still floated in the water, though. Her body was gabbed and pulled to the surface. She coughed up water and looked at her savior. It was InuYasha! He led her over to the side and helped her up onto shore. Her eyes closed as she relaxed. She opened them again to reunite with her father.
"Dad! I knew I would find you! I’m sorry I came back it’s just…" Kaede was then interrupted by her father’s agitated remark.
"Just stay here and stay out of trouble!"
Kaede was about to object but kept her cool. She turned her gaze from her father’s as her eyes burned gold with anger. "Feh!" Kaede exclaimed angrily. InuYasha just rolled his eyes and swam to fight the demon. Kaede's arm burned and throbbed when the dirt from the ground entered the wound. A soft hand touched the wound gently. Kaede looked up to see her mother there.
"MOM!" Kaede shouted when she saw her mother’s presence. Kagome smiled and hugged her daughter.
"What happened to you’re arm Kaede?" Kagome asked her daughter with concern. Kaede didn’t want to explain it to her mother yet so luckily she was caught off from her lie from her father’s screams. He was lifted into the air by the demon’s claw. Kaede looked into her mother’s eyes as she exclaimed to her, "Please let me use your bow and arrow mom! I need to show dad that I’m not as worthless as he thinks!" Kagome was caught off guard by what Kaede’s thought her father thought of her that she just gave the bow and arrow to Kaede.
Kaede dove under the water and swam towards the demon. She looked back to her mother and shouted, "Can you see the weak-spot mom! I can't see it!" Kaede was curious of why she couldn't spot the demon's weak spot like she always could. "There! In it's throat!" Kagome shouted back to Kaede. Kaede saw the demon turn towards her so she dove underneath the water. She looked up to the surface to see the demon overtop. Luckily it's eyesight wasn't good. She lined up the shot in her bow and the arrow flew through the air. The aura around the tip of the arrow faded once it hit the demon. The demon disintigrated and the water ran with blood. Kaede came up for air and made her way to shore before the blood reached her. InuYasha came up gasping for air. He found where there was ground in the water and was yelling to try to get attention to his blood drenched clothes. "LOOK AT ME! ACK! THAT IS SO GROSS I'M LIKE DRINKING BLOOD GACK!KAEDE!!!" Kaede's eye's widened when she saw her father yelling so she backed up into her mother's safe hold.
Off to See a Wolf
InuYasha’s tapping on the ground was the only thing that could be heard while the family of three sat down beside the river, waiting for the rest of the gang to show up. Kaede’s head hung low because she knew her father was going to lay it into her at any moment. Kagome sat beside Kaede with a sad look washed on her face. She knew Kaede was going to get it from her father so she just left all the talking for him. InuYasha finally stood up.
“What were you thinking?! Coming back to the feudal era while we think you were in modern times. Why do you have to be so...so...so thoughtless,” InuYasha bellowed. The last part rung in Kaede’s head. ‘Me? I’m thoughtless?’ Kaede didn’t like that part one bit, “What!? I’m the one who’s thoughtless? What about you dad! You’re the one who promised me you would take me on whatever adventures came up and then you suddenly change your mind and you don’t even tell me until the last second?! I don’t know about you but I think that you’re the one who is thoughtless,” Kaede shouted.
“Kaede you are really so...” But InuYasha didn’t get to finish his sentence because he was caught off by something he didn’t want to hear, “InuYasha, sit,” Kagome spoke calmly. Kaede turned to her mother and smiled as her father hit the ground. He muttered something under his breath but it was nothing to start arguing about.
“What your father is trying to say Kaede, is that we thought you shouldn’t have come because we thought you weren’t old enough or strong enough yet to take on someone as powerful as Naraku. But we can’t take you back now so I guess you can stay with us and help destroy Naraku,” Kagome smiled a mother’s smile to be as Kaede’s consolation. Kaede smiled back and hugged her mother. When she broke from her mother’s embrace, InuYasha still made things difficult, “She’s still not strong enough to...,”
“Sit boy,” Kaede said with hatred in her voice as she cut her father off from his sentence. Saying ‘Sit or Sit Boy’ was her only way to show her anger to her father. Luckily Yukio, Yumi, and Shippo came flying in just in time so that Kaede wouldn’t have to hear her father anymore.
“Umm hello? Who are you?” Kagome asked with no doubt in her because she figured they were Kaede’s friends.
“You must be Kagome, Kaede’s mother, well I’m Yumi a demon slayer, this is Yukio, a bird demon, and this is Shippo a...” Yumi tried to continue but Shippo jumped off of Yumi’s shoulder and into Kagome’s arms, “Kagome! I thought I wouldn’t see you again!” Shippo cried. “Shippo! Why aren’t you with Lady Kaede and why are you so small?” Kagome asked. “Well I met up with half demon Kaede and went along with her and I turned smaller to get around easier,” Shippo explained. Kaede let the “half demon” part go since she was too suspicious of the way Yumi looked when she saw Sango and Miroku coming near on Kirara.
“YUMI?! What are you doing here?!” Miroku exclaimed.
“Uh, um hi...dad,” Yumi said as softly as she could but Kaede, Yukio, Shippo, and as well as InuYasha who had gotten himself up, heard what she said because of their excellent demon hearing. Kaede was the first to talk.
“What? How is he your father!?”
“Because,” Sango interjected , “I am her mother,”
“Yumi! You lied to us!” Yukio exclaimed.
“Yumi told us that her mother was part of your village and she survived the attack of demons and gave birth to her but died. And that when she found out you were alive, Sango, she had to look for you because she felt some sort of ‘connection’,” Kaede said to Sango, resisting to even look at Yumi.
“Yumi is our second oldest child out of our five children. Why didn’t Soutaro stop you from leaving like we told him to?” Miroku asked.
“Well,” Yumi continued with her head hung, “I sort of told him I was going to the next village to get some food. You know you should really put somebody else in charge because he’s very stupid. I traveled three villages far away where I wore these clothes instead of my demon exterminator clothes so that I wouldn’t be recognized and sent back home. I came looking for you to help you kill Naraku,”
“After we distinctly told you to stay and watch your brothers and sisters,” Sango was very angry, even angrier then Miroku.
“Oh they are fine since Soutaro is watching them,” Yumi shrugged that thought off as another came forth.
“And to top that all off,” Sango kept on making Yumi feel terrible, “You lied to your friends!” Yumi bit her lip.
“I didn’t mean to it’s just that I...” Kaede stood up before Yumi could continue. “Alright, the reason I came back to the feudal era was to fight with everyone to defeat Naraku, not to fight with each other so, are we going or not?” Kaede looked down to her father who’s eyes were closed, arms crossed, and had his legs crossed. (A.N.: You know when he’s all ticked off!) “Fine then, let’s get going,” InuYasha said as he got up. “We have to go somewhere I know you won’t like InuYasha, but we need all the help we can get,” Kagome said nervously. InuYasha turned around to her, “And where would that be?” he asked bitterly. “Kouga’s cave,” Kagome whispered. “WHAT!?” InuYasha yelled. Suddenly a small tornado came and Kagome knew what that meant, “Or, he could come to us,” Kagome said while pointing to the tornado. Her Miko outfit fluttered as Kouga came running up beside her. (A.N.: Oh and if you didn’t know, she’s now a priestess so she wears a miko outifit like the one Kikyo wears. But with her hair down like normal.) Kouga gave Kagome a hug and stared into her eyes. “My woman! I knew you’d come back to me! You just couldn’t stand mutt-face over here could you?” Suddenly Kouga got a slap to the head. “Ahem!” It was Ayame. She grabbed him by the ear and turned him around. “Wolves mate for life and if I didn’t know any better, I’d think that InuYasha and Kagome mated for life just like you and me and there is their offspring,” Ayame scolded Kouga pointing to Kaede.“Hey! She’s perfect for Kisho! Now he’ll have a mate.
