"Inuyasha Storys"
*~*Inuyashas Daughter*~* chapter Five
"We cannot take the girl with us. She is the protecter of the Shikon No Tama, Naraku would surely kill her in an instant, like I said, she is just a child."
"Well I’m not leaving her here! We will just have to leave her with your mother in the modern age, Kagome." InuYasha said to Kagome and the rest of the group. Kaede clenched her fists in anger thinking about what her father had just done. Her eyes burned in a yellow passion as her father’s eyes were.
"I don’t want to see Kaede get hurt, so how will we get her to go?" Kagome asked.
"We’ll just have to make her," InuYasha said.
"So it is settled. We bring Kaede to modern Japan, we will kill Naraku then bring Kaede back home," Kagome said as she got up to go check on Kaede. When Kaede heard her coming she shut her eyes tight so that it looked like she was sleeping and to hold back the tears.
***
Everyone stood outside the hut preparing for the journey. Kaede hadn’t said anything that morning. Finally when everyone was ready to leave, Kaede spoke up, "So dad, where are we going?" She knew where they were going but she wanted to see if they changed their minds. All of them turned to Kaede in silence. Kagome was the one who spoke up, "Umm Kaede. We are all going on a journey to destroy Naraku, but you aren’t going to come. You are going to stay with grandma for a couple of months. Alright?" Kaede’s eyes began to water. She then shouted, "What are you saying! You want me to forget about you!" Kagome’s eyes widened, "No! No! We just don’t want you to get hurt!" Kagome took a step towards Kaede but Kaede just took a step back. "How could you be like that mom!" screamed Kaede. She jumped into a tree and sat there crying. Kagome sighed as she saw that Kaede sat on a branch of the sacred tree. InuYasha had no patience, "Kaede stop being like that and just come down!" Kaede turned away and then said, "No! I’m going to stay right here and SIT!" InuYasha fell down into the ground with a grunt. Kaede giggled a bit then said, "What’s wrong dad? Can’t stand on your own two feet!" She didn’t know about the power she had over her father like her mother did, because her mother’s blood ran in with hers. InuYasha grinded his teeth with anger. He bounced up to the tree and sat down beside her. "Listen dad until you come to your senses, like I said, I am just going to stay right here and SIT!" AGAIN InuYasha was pushed down into the ground with a great thud. Kaede had a confused look on her face. She then smirked, "Oh I get it now! I can control you by saying SIT!" InuYasha hit the ground AGAIN. "Kaede stop!" Kagome cried to Kaede. "Listen Kaede either you come down here and go through the well or we are leaving you here!" Kaede finally gave in and came down.
"I’m going to miss you so much mom!" Kaede started to cry as she hugged her mom. Kagome also started to cry. "What’s the bag for Kaede?" asked Shippo. "Oh!" Kaede said a bit nervously, "That’s just some of my blankets and stuff like that." Shippo then hugged Kaede goodbye. Kaede sat down on the well and stared up at the sacred tree. InuYasha sat down beside her and smiled. "It won’t be that long trust me." InuYasha said reassuring to his daughter. She turned to him with tears swelled up in her eyes. "How can I even trust you anymore dad. I thought you were going to take me everywhere with you!" InuYasha sighed, "I just don’t want you to get hurt," said InuYasha. Kaede smiled weakly and hugged her dad goodbye. He saw her go down the well. He knew she would not forgive him.
***
Kaede hopped out of the well and walked slowly towards her grandmother’s house. She knocked on the door. Her grandmother stood there and smiled. Kagome had borrowed Kaede’s Jewel to go back and tell her mother that Kaede would be staying with her for a few months. She put her arm around Kaede and led her to her new room. Kaede walked into her new room. It was Kagome’s old room. She swung her bag on the bed and collapsed on the floor. She reached over her shoulder and grabbed her bag she took out the items in it. Inside, were her clothes from the feudle era. They looked exactly like her father’s, except they were white instead of red. Also her Tetshiega was in there. It was almost like InuYasha’s Tetsusiega. She also had her bow and arrows. She ran her fingers through the golden feathers on the end of the arrows. Kaede snatched the Shikon No Tama off of her neck and into the palm of her hands. A tear landed on the jewel and it throbbed with a pink light. Kaede then squinted to see what was being shown to her. In the jewel, she saw her father walking away from the well sadly. It then started to snow. Kaede whipped the necklace across the room. It cracked in the middle. Kaede’s eyes widened. She crawled towards the Jewel and held the two pieces in her hands. She panicked and tried to put the pieces together. It didn’t work. She looked in the two pieces and was amazed. On each piece there was a picture of her mother on one side, and her father on the other. They were faint images but you could still see them. One single tear rolled from her eye, down her cheek onto the pieces that she pressed together. The crack was made invisible and it stayed intact. A weak smile came to her face. She put the necklace back on and sighed. She knew that even if it killed her, she needed to do whatever she could to protect the Shikon No Tama.
Two-weeks went by, and Kaede was used to going around with a hat on and modern day clothes on. Kaede sat in the car in the backseat as her grandmother and great-grandfather sat in the front. Souta was at school.
"Kaede I have good news for you! I hooked up with a friend and they pulled some strings so now you can go to a school until your mom and dad come back." Kaede lowered her head.
"Oh sweetie I’m so sorry I didn’t…"
"No really, don’t worry about it."
Kaede lied her head against the window and sighed as she thought to herself, ‘They probably forgot about me anyways.’ She looked outside at all the normal kids, she thought to herself, ‘Maybe going to this new school will be good for me.’
***
Kaede arrived at the school and slouched to one side. She made sure her hat was on tight and made sure her teeth weren’t too shiny and sharp. She trudged forward. The bell rang and a huge lineup formed in front of the school. Kaede was about to fly over the crowd, but then remembered that she wasn’t supposed to show her hanyou form. She just lined up and followed the crowd inside.
Kaede wasn’t sure what to do when she got inside. No one told her which class she was in, what teacher she had, nobody even told her which grade she was in! She was so used to the feudle era. She did know some things about modern Japan, but not much. Just then someone stood at the end of the hallway. It was empty except for her and him. He had weird looking pants and an ugly shirt, as well as a red sash. He held a clipboard and pen in his hand.
"And why aren’t you in class?" the weird looking boy said.
"I don’t know where my class is you see it’s my first day and I…"
"Silence! I’m a hall monitor and I’m writing you a slip for detention!"
Kaede’s eyes burned with a yellow glow like they always do when she gets mad. She jetted up to the boy. This caught him off guard.
"Listen you little…you little…you little nerd! I am going to find my class and you are going to help me, right!?" He saw her nails grow longer and got nervous. He grabbed her by the wrist and led her to her classroom. When she got there she walked in and the teacher and class were silent. Kaede walked up to the teacher and gave her the note stating that she needed to wear her hat because of her "sickness" (the real reason was because of her ears). The teacher introduced her as Kaede Higurashi and told her to take a seat at the back. Kaede walked down the aisle and grabbed onto her books tightly. She sat at the back and looked around at the students. A group of girls in front of her turned around and laughed at her. She lowered her head so that she wouldn’t be noticed.
When recess came around, Kaede finally realized that she was in grade six. When she got outside she found a corner on the playground and took out her diary. Her sunlight was then blocked out by a shadow. She looked up to see the girls that were in her class that were laughing at her. One of the girls snatched the diary out of her hands and started reading it out-loud. When Kaede went to get the diary back, the other girls just stood in her way.
"Ooh, here’s her most recent article!" The girl shouted to her friends and a few boys that came around.
"Dear Diary,
I don’t think I can take anymore of modern Japan. The feudle era is better! Fighting demons is better than sitting around and doing nothing all day like these boring humans. Mom is not boring though. I’m happy that mom lives with dad and I in the feudle era. I’ve realized that protecting the Shikon No Tama is my job. I can do it."
All the students stepped away from Kaede. ‘Is she an alien?’ some students said. ‘What’s the feudle era?’ others said. ‘Demons? What demons!?’ some shouted. Just then the girl who read the diary came up behind Kaede and said, "Maybe it’s got something to do with this stupid hat!" She snatched the hat off and the students were alarmed to see dog- ears coming from the top of her head. "What a freak!" the girl screamed. Kaede’s eyes turned yellow, not with anger, but with embarrassment. Kaede realized they have seen so much already, that she should just fly out of there. She flew away, landing on the ground and sprinting sometimes. When she got to the house she ran to her room and collapsed on the bed and broke out in tears. She finally lifted her head and knew what she had to do. She grabbed her bag from underneath her bed and took out her feudle era clothes and war paint.
When she was ready to go she stood with her white outfit on, her Tetshiega hanging on her sash, her arrows over her shoulder, her bow in one hand, as well as two lines of war paint on her right cheek. She left a note for her grandmother telling her she went to go find the ones who forgot about her. She jumped into the well into the next world.
***
When Kaede hopped out of the well, the cold form the snow hugged her feet. It continued to snow, but lightly. She knew that her parents would be looking for Naraku and it had only been a few weeks so just a bit of her father’s scent was left for her to follow. She dragged her feet but followed quickly, making sure not to lose the scent.
***
Naraku’s darkness hovered around the room. He leaned against the wall wondering why he felt a sense of danger. He called for Kana. The white girl walked into the room with no expression on her face. She knelt down in front of Naraku. He then asked her, "Kana, show me in your mirror, the one who is a threat." In Kana’s mirror, an image of Kaede was shown of her walking in the snow.
Naraku smirked, "Just a mere girl, that’s no threat. But just in case, I’ll send an ash demon after her so that she will die."
***
Kaede shivered as the snow started to build up on the gound. Darkness built up in the sky. Kaede reached for her Tetshiega. Darkness hovered over her. There stood a demon with a spider mark on his chest. He had a samari helmet on with horns sticking out of them. His red eyes were the only things that could be seen on his face. He had huge claws reeking with the smell of blood. He held his huge black bow in his hand with his arrows hung on his shoulder. Kaede stepped back. The battle was ready to begin.
The Journey Begins
Recap: Kaede reached for her Tetshiega. Darkness hovered over her. There stood a demon with a spider mark on his chest. He had a samari helmet on with horns sticking out of them. His red eyes were the only things that could be seen on his gloomy face. He had huge claws reeking with the smell of blood. He held his huge black bow in his hand with his arrows hung on his shoulder. Kaede stepped back. The battle was ready to begin.
Kaede jumped backwards as the dark figure came crashing before her. He landed on his knuckle and stood up as normal. He stood tall about 6’6. Kaede unsheathed her Tetshiega and lunged forward to strike her opponent. He dodged the attack and his huge talons thrusted towards her just ripping at her shoulder. Kaede fell to the ground, and grabbed at her shoulder. Blood poured out through the spaces where her fingers were spread. She twitched as the blood poured out but still stood her ground. He came towards her again, but this time she was ready. She held her hand out in front of her and concentrated her power. His arm began to shatter and ashes flowed out from his dark amputated arm. ‘What the?’ Kaede thought to herself. His arm then formed back onto his body. Ashes still lay on the ground before him. ‘He must be an ash demon!’ Kaede smirked. She charged at him and swung her Tetshiega at him. She slashed his body. Ashes poured out and he fell to the ground. When she thought she had defeated him his ashes came together and rose up into his demon form again. She was speechless. He smirked and grabbed his bow and an arrow. He took his finger and felt the sphere tip. He took his hand back and placed the arrow in the bow. Kaede had to think fast. She then held her hand forward as to block to shot. The demon just laughed and continued, aiming for Kaede. Kaede closed her eyes tight as she held her hand out before her. She was reciting some religious words that she learned from Lady Kaede. His arrow came forth and she felt a fire burn within her. When she opened her eyes, the arrow stopped in front of her. A pink glow burned around her. A smirk caressed her lips and she grabbed the floating arrow in her hands and took out her bow. She lined up the shot and aimed for his heart. The arrow flew and it struck him in the heart. He fell to the ground and his body broke out into ashes. Kaede sighed. And the pink glow disappeared. She knew then what she had to do. She walked towards the ashes and knelt down beside them. She held some of the ashes in both of her hands and said some religious spell. The Sacred Jewel glowed and Kaede dropped the ashes to the ground. She stepped back and watched as the ashes glowed and they rose up into the form of a person. The features were shown on his face. He had black hair with black crescent shaped eyes. He was dressed in a kimono and he stood tall. She smiled at the sight. Wings then came out from his back. She then smirked when she realized he was a bird demon. His huge talons went about a centimeter past his actual finger-tips. He sighed and looked at his rescuer.
"You saved me from my dark demon, thank-you," he praised. He was about the age of 13. She was stunned to see how young he was. "You’re, you’re just as young as me!" She circled him like a vulture would it’s prey. He followed her gaze and asked her what she was doing. "When you were the ash demon, you were so very tall!" Now he bumped down to a 5’5. He crossed his arms. "Well excuse me!" She smirked then said, "You’re excused bird-boy!" He winced at this remark. He tapped his foot in agitation until he just couldn’t take it anymore, "Would you just stop!" She jumped and put her hands on her hips. "Hey! I’m the one who saved you! Now I need some information!" He looked at her suspiciously. "Depends what you wanna know." She then asked him,
"Who sent you?"
"A demon named Naraku. I was summoned by that evil creature to come and kill you."
"Well you didn’t do a very good job"
"HEY! I got you in the arm."
"That’s not a very good thing to be proud of."
"Anyways…
"Can you take me to Naraku?"
"What? Why should I take you!?"
"Why not? What’s wrong with me?" Kaede’s claws came out.
"I have been reincarnated and my job is to kill Naraku. He killed my family and I and now it is my duty to kill him ALONE!"
"Well he almost killed my family and I before and my father’s scent is now gone so now I have no way of finding him or my mother and friends now!"
"You are too rude so now I am not going to help you!" He crossed his arms and turned away. Kaede’s hands twitched. She held back trying to attack.
"I brought you back, and I can make you disappear again!"
"Are you threatening me girl!"
The two stayed head to head ready to attack at any given moment.
"Kaede don’t do it!" Kaede turned her head to see Shippo running towards her. "What are you doing here Shippo? I thought you went with the rest of the gang?" Shippo scurried up to Kaede’s side. "They left me here with Lady Kaede! They said I wasn’t prepared to fight! What are you doing here Kaede?" She smiled at him. She hadn’t realized it but he had gotten older. He was around the age of fifteen. She still couldn’t forget the old tiny Shippo. Believe it or not, he was still smaller than Kaede! I guess that’s what you get when you are a fox demon.
She explained to Shippo what had happened, and the bird demon finally agreed to bring them to find Naraku. ‘You’ll just get in the way though,’ said the demon bragging to them about his talents. They just rolled their eyes and kept on trudging behind. He went on, and on, and on, until Kaede finally cut in. "What was your name again?" He held his head up high, "Yukio, son of …" Shippo and Kaede waited for his response. He sighed then said, "Son of Taro" Both of them broke out into laughter. "You mean Taunting Taro! The one who flew from his own village’s battle! His name should be Yushimitsu(meaning runs from fears)!" Yukio’s eye’s burned red. He flew up into the air and changed the subject, "I bet you can’t catch me Kaede!" Kaede turned to Yukio and smirked. "You’re on!" Shippo said go and Kaede sprinted forward. Yukio was well ahead of her. She frowned and knew she didn’t want to lose to a show-off like him. She ran faster and than flew into the air. She was beside him in the air. He looked over to her and smirked. His face then went blank. He had spotted the Shikon No Tama. He reached for it and had a tight hold. She was shocked but thought fast. She held onto his hand and jumped on his wings, trying to throw him off. They wrestled in the air until Kaede finally swung her hand forward and ripped at his chest with her claws. He let go of his hold and flew away from her grabbing at his bleeding chest. She landed on the ground and ran towards Shippo. She grabbed him and pulled him on her back and ran through the forests. "What’s wrong Kaede?" Shippo shouted to Kaede.
"Yukio can’t be trusted! He tried to snatch the Shikon No Tama off of me!" Shippo looked up to see Yukio flying over top. "Kaede wait! Please I want to help you! I didn’t mean to take it, I just, I just was overcome by it’s power!" Yukio yelled down to Kaede. Kaede slowed down to a light jog, then to a stop. She let Shippo down and put her hands on her hips. "Please Kaede, I meant no harm," he said with an honest face. She finally shook her head and signaled him to follow her and Shippo. As they walked, Kaede finally said. "If you ever try to take it again, I’ll really kill you with my bare hands!" He walked ahead and started talking about himself again as if nothing had happened. Kaede ran up to him ready to strangle him but was stopped by Shippo. This continued for the rest of the agonizing day. It was the beginning of a great adventure.
Yumi, Demon Slayer
Kaede’s arrow flew through air towards the one demon. It’s body was like a dragon’s. It was huge with a long scaly green body. It’s fangs were huge and were covered in blood. His eyes were completely white. The arrow went straight for his chest. It’s glow faded when it hit him and there was a silent pause. Suddenly, there was an explosion. Kaede flew into the air grabbing on to Shippo’s arm. When they landed, Kaede was prepared to fight the other demon that looked exactly like the other, except he was red. Kaede was about to grab her Tetshiega, when a shadow hovered over top. It was Yukio.
"Leave it to me Kaede! You got the first one now it’s my turn!" yelled Yukio down to the hanyou. She was agitated and folded her arms across her body. Yukio’s pure white bird wings spread as he turned his body and sent, what looked like spikes, forward. Kaede knew that that would not kill the demon, so she unsheathed her Tetshiega and plunged towards the demon. She cut it in half and since the spikes from Yukio held sacred power and the power from Tetshiega held the power from InuYasha’s fangs and Kaede’s fangs, it created a massive explosion. Kaede dodged one of the balls of flames and headed towards Shippo. He grabbed her hand and she covered him from the flame. Kaede’s empty hand was then grabbed by Yukio’s hand. They were lifted up into the air. Kaede looked up to Yukio and smiled. "You know," Kaede yelled up the reincarnated demon, "You’re not so bad once you are useful!" He grinned then looked down to her and said, "Don’t test me! I could drop you at any moment into the blaze!" Shippo almost fell off of Kaede in shock (not noticing that he was joking). "NO!!! Please don’t! Kaede is just joking!" Kaede and Yukio shook their heads sympathetically. Yukio then saw a village and pointed at it with his free hand. They landed in open space in the village. There were no people in sight. Kaede looked around suspiciously. "Where is everybody?" asked Yukio. Kaede’s ears twitched. She jumped on Yukio making them both fall to the ground. Yukio pushed Kaede off of him and asked her why the hell she jumped on him. Arrows flew into the air right above their heads. Shippo got down and hurried towards the two. Kaede looked up to see three girls around the age of six, with bows and arrows in their hands with dominating looks on their faces. One girl came forward. She had black faded hair with an old ugly kimono on. "Get up demons so that we can slay you with pride!" Kaede was mad. She would not let little children order her around. Kaede stood up and threw her hand forward as the girls shot their arrows at her. The arrows stopped at Kaede and the arrows were turned around towards the girls. "Nobody bosses me around," smirked Kaede. Kaede could smell the weakness in the girls. ‘They may look strong but really their young minds still are the ones of young children.’ thought Kaede. Just then numb-chucks with spikes on each ends came towards Kaede. Yukio grabbed Shippo and flew into the air. Kaede turned to the numb chucks and stopped them with her powers also. "Who is there!?" Kaede yelled to the empty path. A girl walked out with a smirk on her face.
She looked around the age of thirteen or fourteen. Her hair was white except for two black streaks that ran down the side of her head. Her hair was put in a high ponytail Her shirt looked clean but ripped. On each arm huge rips were found on the sleeves baring her arms. She had a skirt that looked like it once was long and reached her ankles, but was now short and ripped right above her knees. A little below her knees were pieces of cloth that were a dark brown that looked like pant legs. Her eyes were a beautiful shade of green and her lips looked as if they were drawn perfectly. Her eyelashes curled up perfectly. Yukio stood there with his jaw opened at her beauty. She smiled at Kaede not paying any attention to Yukio. "Allow me to introduce myself, I am Yumi the demon slayer," (Yumi means beautiful) Kaede sent the arrows and numb chuck forward when she heard that Yumi was a demon hunter. She hopped she was like Sango though, that listened to reason. Yumi just dodged the arrows and snatched her numb chuck. She landed on her feet and smiled wickedly at Kaede. Kaede screamed out in pain as the girls from behind her shot arrows into her back. Kaede collapsed to the ground. She heard Shippo and Yukio call out her name.
<FLASHBACK>
Kaede sat on steps after her family had gotten the glass pieces out of her. Sango came and sat beside her. She sighed and stared at Kaede.
"Are you alright Kaede?"
"Hmm? Yes of course I am…now."
"Oh well you don’t seem to be yourself."
"No I’m fine, really!" Kilala jumped into Kaede’s lap and Kaede stroked her. Sango smiled.
"She seems to like you Kaede."
"Yes. Would it be ok if she slept with me in my room tonight? I’m not quite over all that has happened. I’m just a little…"
"Scared?"
"Yes"
"Of course"
"Sango, may I ask you something?"
"Of course you may"
"Naraku tricked you into thinking my dad killed your village, how did you believe that he was good?"
"I looked in my heart and knew"
"But how did you know for sure?"
"Once you really convince someone that they can trust you, there is goodness shown" Kaede smiled weakly and put her hands behind her head and lied down on the ground and looked up at the stars.
<END OF FLASHBACK>
"Die demon!" yelled Yumi as she came crashing towards Kaede. Kaede dodged the attack and reached for her Tetshiega. She wasn’t attacking though she was just defending herself. She didn’t want Yumi to think she was her enemy. Kaede just looked over to see Yukio in a trance over Yumi. ‘He’s a lot of help!’ thought Kaede. Yumi tied the numb-chucks around her waist in one swift move then took out a large wooden pole. On each end there were sharp spheres. On it, in Japanese, it read For Those Who Were Killed by the Demons Hand. A thought clicked in Kaede’s head. It was a girl from Sango’s village! Her mother must have survived the attack and gave birth to Yumi. Kaede sheathed her Tetshiega.
"Yumi stop!" Yumi continued forward as if she did not care.
"Were you from a village that was killed by a demon named Naraku?" Yumi stopped and lowered her weapon.
"How do you know about my village?"
"Do you know Sango the demon exterminator?"
"Yes I do! She was the greatest woman demon hunter in our village! So my mother used to tell me."
"Please listen to my story." Yumi leaded the three to her hut.
***
When they got into the hut, Yumi sat down beside Kaede and Shippo and Yukio followed.
"My mother used to tell me that before I was born our village was attacked and she got out just in time. She was the only survivor. Or so she thought. She fled to the forest and hid in a cave so that she would be safe until she traveled back to the nearest village. My father died when my village was attacked. She gave birth to me, in this village, she died a few months later of a sickness. But before she died she got this weapon engraved about our village for me. She always wanted me to follow in my father’s footsteps to become a demon exterminator. I honored her wishes and became one. I found out by other villages that Sango was alive and I needed to go find her. I don’t know why, but I feel like I am apart of her. I was just about to leave to look for her but then you came."
Kaede was taken over by her story and wanted to help her. "I’m very sorry to hear about your mother and father. But I have a way to help you. My parents are on a journey to kill the demon that killed your village…with Sango. This jewel around my neck is the Jewel of Four Souls. My parents, with Sango and others, gathered the pieces together and made me the protector. But the demon who almost defeated my parents and the others by gathering all the pieces is still not dead. I am now looking for my parents. Since you are looking for Sango, she is with them so would you like to come with us. I am also looking to kill Naraku. He tried to kill my family, and he also killed my guardian and I will not rest until he is dead." Yumi just sat there for a second.
"Yes I will come and help you defeat the demon and see Sango," Yumi responded. Kaede smiled then got up. She walked over to Yukio. "She’s much too pretty to go with you!" Kaede then ran out with Yukio trailing behind. Shippo was left in the hut with Yumi. "They are going to do that a lot," Shippo said. They both then walked out of the hut. Outside, Yukio was chasing after Kaede into the forest. Yumi and Shippo shook their heads and trailed behind the two.
Kaede’s Heart Beats the Same as Kagome’s
All four walked through the forest chatting away about their journeys from the past. Kaede listened but also kept her nose open for her mother’s or father’s scent. It started to get dark so they decided to camp out in the forest. Since Yumi was a human she slept on the ground beside Shippo. Yukio sat at the base of a tree with his wings covering him. Kaede sat in the tree just like her father would always do. All was quiet and Kaede had just gotten to sleep when she heard a faint cry. Her ears perked up and she went to see what it was. It was deeper into the forest but Kaede had a kind heart and needed to help. When she got to the place where she heard the noise, she was surprised to see a fifteen- year- old girl crying. She had raven black hair with a small ponytail at the side. She was dressed in a checkered orange and yellow kimono. Just then, it hit Kaede. It was the girl from the dark place. When the glass pieces were in her. She bit her lip and asked her what was wrong.
"Please help! Rin was staying in the forest just like Sesshomouru-sama told her, and he came back and looked to be asleep. I tried to wake him up but he wouldn’t! Please help him!" Kaede grabbed Rin’s hand and Rin showed her to the place were the demon lord was. He was laying against a tree. His hair was silver and a cresent moon was on his head. He was just how Kaede had seen him in her dream stage. His eyes were shut and he looked to be in a deep sleep. Kaede placed her hands on his chest. His chest was warm. She smiled at him but she didn’t know why. All her feeling fell into one particular feeling…knowing she was safe. Light was shone under her hands and then his whole body lit up. Kaede stepped back with Rin. Sesshomouru coughed up blood and Kaede smiled. "He’s going to be fine. Now you stay here and take care of him," Kaede said to the frightened teen. She looked dependant on the demon. Before Kaede left, Rin gave her a hug and told her thank you.
Rin ran off quickly to find Sesshomouru some food and a drink. So many thoughts ran through Sesshomouru’s mind. ‘Who put me in that trance?’, ‘Why am I not opening my eyes?’, ‘Who saved me?’, ‘Where is Kaede?’. He rethought what his mind just thought. "Kaede? Kaede is InuYasha’s child. She is the one who saved me. This is quite peculiar. I feel the same way towards her as I feel towards Rin. I feel as if I must protect her. She is my savior. My idiot brother is not treating her right! Wait…how do I know this? Some of her thoughts must have intertwined with mine. She is going to find Naraku. I must help her." Finally Sesshomouru opened his eyes desperately, to see Rin’s smiling face. "Lord Sesshomouru! Thank goodness you are alright!" He looked her over just to make sure she was fine in return. He then sat up with his eyes still fixed on her.
"Rin it is late, you should be asleep."
"But I couldn’t go to sleep Lord Sesshomouru! Not with you in danger!" Surprisingly, Sesshomouru smiled weakly at this remark. He had never really realized that Rin really cared for him the way he did. He held out his hand and Rin slipped her hand into it. She lied down beside him. Her head rested on his huge fur pelt and she fell asleep with ease. He stared at Rin for a second, then up at the stars.
The Mystery of the Half Moon and the Human Kaede
Shippo dodged the huge claw of the youkai and attacked it’s arm with his fox fire. Yumi’s numb-chucks flew through the air towards the demon’s head. Blood sprayed out into the air. Out from the youkai’s mouth came balls of fire, which lit up the whole village in flames. The fire came towards two children. Yukio swiftly picked the children up into the air and put them on safer grounds. Kaede stood in front of the youkai with her Tetshiega in her hands. The youkai’s eyes grew wide when he spotted the Shikon Jewel around her neck.
"GIVE ME THE JEWEL OF FOUR SOULS!" the demon bellowed to Kaede. The young hanyou just stood there with her eyes closed. The demon didn’t waste a second. It came towards Kaede with an anxious look on his face. Right before he came at least a couple of meters before her, Kaede’s eyes shot open. She put the sword forward and the demon shattered into nothing. She had used the Wind Scar. Kaede sighed and collapsed to the ground. Yumi smiled and rushed towards Kaede. Yumi laughed as she said, "Are you alright Kaede?" Kaede smiled back as a response and said, "Just because I’m a half demon doesn’t mean I can deal with these things easily since I am very young!" Yukio came down to the ground, his white wings folded back. Just then some villagers came towards the three friends. One was carrying a TINY Shippo! "Shippo! Are you ok? Why are you so tiny?" Kaede shouted to the tiny fox demon. Shippo seemed to be in a daze. He finally came to his senses. "I’m alright. I am tiny because it’s easier for me to get away from things since I am so small like I was when I was eight," Shippo said with pride.
"Oh ya! Now I remember! You have so many tricks up your sleeves you little demon that you can take any form you wish!" Yukio screamed at Shippo annoyed with him ignoring to help kill the demon. Shippo hopped onto Yumi’s shoulder. Yumi didn’t seem to be bothered by this action. Yukio did though. "So now you are just going to stay like this?!" Yukio yelled angrily. Shippo liked getting on his nerves and knew Yukio was jealous of Shippo being able to go on Yumi’s shoulder. "Yep!" he exclaimed with a huge smile slapped on his face. Kaede walked away and Yumi and Shippo followed. Shippo turned around to Yukio and stuck his tongue out at him as he smelled Yumi’s hair. A red pulsing gesture appeared on Yukio’s head and an angry look washed out any sign of happiness on his face. Yukio flew up into the air and landed silently beside Kaede. "So where are we going Kaede?" Yukio asked the hanyou. Kaede seemed to be in another world. She finally got a hold of herself and tormented herself until she answered the question. She didn’t want to seem suspicious. "Hmm? Oh we are going to find a place to stay in for the night," Kaede avoided eye contact with Yukio. He flew in front of Kaede. This made her stop and feel uneasy. "Kaede, what’s wrong? You’re acting very weird today," Yukio looked right into her eyes but she tore hers away from his. Her eyes burned golden with anger. She pushed passed Yukio and shouted to the group behind her that nothing was wrong. Sweat drops fell from their heads when Kaede stormed off to talk to the inn- keeper.
Everyone was tired that day so everyone went to sleep when the sun was up. Kaede pretended she was asleep until she knew everyone else was for sure. Once they were she got up silently and crept outside. The cool wind blew against her face making her long raven black hair pull back. She ran as fast as her legs could carry her into the forest. When she got deep enough she found a small pond and sat down on the grass beside it. She turned to her reflection in the pond’s crystal clear water. She placed her hand on the water’s surface. She looked up to the sky. A mixture of red orange and yellow as well as pink filled the sky. When she looked back down at her reflection she was stunned to see her mother’s reflection. Tears rolled down from Kaede’s eyes. "Mom! I’m coming for you and dad! I miss you both so much!" A single tear fell into the pond. Kagome’s image faded away. As it did Kaede could hear her mother’s soft voice call her name.

"Kaede? Ka…Kaede!" Kagome screamed out from her sleeping bag. InuYasha’s eyes opened when he heard Kagome’s cries. He hopped down and picked her up and went away from where Sango and Miroku were sleeping. Kagome looked into her mate’s eyes. He looked back into hers. "Kagome what’s wrong?" She looked away from his gaze because she was ashamed of being afraid. But she confessed to what was bothering her. "Kaede is in trouble. I can feel it. She’s here in the feudle era," Kagome said weakly to InuYasha. He stared up to the half moon. Kagome gazed with him. "What have I done InuYasha. And what about you, you seem uneasy also. Is something wrong?" InuYasha took Kagome into his arms. He took her back to where they were sleeping. "We will go and find her tomorrow," InuYasha whispered to Kagome. She softly kissed his lips and she invited him to sleep with her in her sleeping bag. He agreed and they both snuggled into the tight sleeping bag. InuYasha looked up and frowned. Tonight was a half moon…tonight Kaede turned human. But he did not remind Kagome, he was afraid she would get worried even more.
