As the four of them ran through the forest (Myouga was on Kagome’s shoulder) Myouga explained to Kagome what was happening.
" We must hurry for Lord InuYasha is in deep trouble! When Lady Kikiyo came across InuYasha, she went to talk to him about being together. But when InuYasha told her that he was in love with another, she was furious and turned him mortal," Myouga bounced up and down on her shoulder.
"Can she even do that?" Kagome asked.
"While you were gone she found nine shikon shards, these have given her powers so powerful, that she could transform him. Now that Lord InuYasha is human she locked him up in her hut and the only ones who can enter or leave are Lady Kikyo and Lord InuYasha. She is holding him there hostage until he comits to being with and loving Kikyo and no other, and since he is human his needs need to be met. I was with InuYasha when he was locked up so I fed him and helped him, but when Kikyo found me she threatened to kill me but she let me go," Myouga was out of breath.
" But how could you leave?" asked Kagome.
" I took a good helping of blood from Lord InuYasha when I left to keep me alive for the time being, I left to find you but I came across your daughter. InuYasha’s blood runs through his daughter, so Kaede has been keeping me from dying."
"And my blood is the blood of Kikyo, which means Kaede and I are the only ones who can enter as well as Kikyo and InuYasha." Kagome was very scared.
They finally came to a hill. There, was the hut of Lady Kikyo. The outside burned with a purple glow. Kaede ran towards the hut.
"Kaede no!" Kagome cried to her impatient daughter.
"Mommy! Daddy in that place!" Kaede ran for the door.
Kagome told everyone else to stay where they were.
When Kagome came to the door she was scared to enter with her daughter but they did. A strong wind flew by the two. Kaede ran through the hut. She ran through a door. Kagome shouted for her to come back.
Kaede entered a room and saw a man. She didn’t know who he was but she went up to him anyways. He was attached to the wall by bark from a tree. His bangs covered his face. Kaede ran up to him and climbed the bark until she reached his face.
"Hello! I’m Kaede, have you seen my daddy?"
He did not answer.
"Hello? Are you alright?"
All was dark and Kagome could barely see a thing. She held her breath, as she was about to open a door. Her biggest fear was running into Kikiyo. As she walked in she collapsed to the ground. There was InuYasha and Kaede. InuYasha was pinned to the wall by tree bark, his eyes closed.
"Mommy! This man won’t tell us where daddy is and I’m…" before Kaede could finish her sentence InuYasha’s scent entered her nostrils. She had now realized that he was her father.
"Daddy!" Kaede shouted as she hugged her father. Just then InuYasha’s eyes opened.
"Ka…Kaede," InuYasha said to his daughter. Kagome came over and kissed InuYasha. Kagome cried as she hugged both Kaede and Inu.
"Well, I hate to break up this wonderful family reunion, but I’m going to have to," Kikiyo stood at the doorway and a gust of wind came and blew Kagome and Kaede away from InuYasha. Kagome weakly got up. Kaede bounced back up.
"Oh, InuYasha! Your young hanyou daughter has the determination like you. Too bad I’ll have to kill her along with your precious little woman," Kikiyo laughed.
"You know, we could avoid them being killed InuYasha," Kikiyo said.
InuYasha’s ears perked up.
"You go with me and they won’t be killed,"
InuYasha was about to give in for his family’s sake, but then Kaede ran towards Kikyo.
"Leave my daddy alone!" Kaede’s claws came out as she scratched Kikiyo’s arm. Some blood rolled down off of her arm and down to the ground.
"I’m fed up with this child! She dies anyways!" Kikiyo yelled.
Wind blew Kaede hard into the wall. She fell right beside InuYasha. Kagome screamed Kaede’s name.
"Kaede!" Inuyasha yelled faintly. Before Kaede passed out, she said to her father, "I love you daddy," she then fell uncontious.
InuYasha’s hair turned silver and his ears appeared again. His claws became long as well as his fangs. InuYasha had turned demon form. He broke through the bark and growled with fury. His youkai form had taken over completely. He ran towards Kikiyo and slashed her across the face. Blood poured out of her face. She wiped some of it off then got up. She sent her hand forward and glass pieces came out from the ground and got stuck in InuYasha’s skin. InuYasha just shook them off and came towards Kikiyo full force. Her body ached and bled. InuYasha came over to her and took her nine jewel shards that were hung around her neck. InuYasha walked over to Kagome and gave her the jewel shards. He turned to Kikiyo.
"I am only in love with one, and that is Kagome," InuYasha’s eyes turned back to normal and he was his normal hanyou self again. A blue force came around Kikiyo and she was lifted into the air and taken away, she was not dead, but she was gone. InuYasha went over to Kagome and helped her up.
"I love you InuYasha," Kagome said weakly. Kaede got up and limped towards her parents. InuYasha and Kagome held her in their arms. She smiled then said to them, "Hi mommy! Hi daddy!" Kagome broke out into tears. And for the first time, even a tear came to InuYasha’s eye.
Nine Years Later
As Kaede ran around the house, her jet-black hair fluttered in the air. She dodged numerous objects that came forth. Just then her great grandfather came in front of her.
"Excuse me young lady!" Her grandfather looked angry. Kaede rolled her eyes as her great-grandfather told her about how the demons from her time were not going to just going to let her stop them when she fought with them. Kaede then spoke up.
"Great Grandpa! If I wanted to hear about my time, I would have stayed home!" Her grandfather couldn’t think of anything to say.
Kaede then ran to her mother’s old room and looked at her CD’s. She played one and started dancing. Just then the doorbell rang. Kaede grabbed her blue trucker hat and put it on. Every time she went to her mother’s time she needed to wear her hat so that people would not notice her ears. Kaede then continued dancing like she was in a dance video. Unexpectedly her mother came in. Kaede, unprepared, jumped on the bed as if not embarrassed at all. Kagome smiled at her daughter.
"No need to be embarrassed Kaede," Kagome’s smiled widened as she stared at Kaede. Kaede’s eyes burned red as she stood up and folded her arms and replied to her mother,
"IM NOT EMBARASSED!" said Kaede. Kagome sighed and shook her head. She was exactly like her father. Kagome went and sat beside Kaede.
"It’s your birthday, be happy," Kagome said to her sad daughter.
"When is he coming?" Kaede asked her mother, trying to hold back tears.
"Don’t worry he’ll be here," Kagome said. She changed the subject.
"You know," Kagome continued, "Your father and I got you a very special gift that you will love. Now come and blow out your candles on your cake. Kaede bounced up and ran towards the dining room. When she got there, InuYasha was at the end of the table.
"Daddy!!!" Kaede shouted and ran to give her father a hug.
"What? You thought I would miss my own daughter’s birthday??" InuYasha asked Kaede with a smile on his face.
"Welcome," Kagome laughed as she entered the room. Then Souta came in with the cake.

When it was time to open presents, Kaede opened the one from her Grandma, Uncle Souta, and her Great grandfather. She got a blanket with gold thread knitted into it. She loved her gift. Her parent’s gift was next. She looked at her mother and father and smiled. She carefully unwrapped the gift. What she saw was extraordinary. She couldn’t believe her eyes, it was the Jewel of the Four Souls. It glowed with passion.
"I can’t put this on though, because if I do, I’ll become full demon, and I don’t want to," Kagome said to her parents.
Kagome put her hands on her shoulders. "Trust me you’ll be fine," Kagome took the necklace in her hands and put it on Kaede. Kaede closed her eyes and felt good inside. Everyone smiled as she hugged InuYasha and Kagome.
"But why me? After all that searching and you give it to me?" Kaede felt bad.
"Listen Kaede, you are our daughter and we thought, who better to be the new protector of it other than you," InuYasha said to Kaede. Kaede than said, "I will guard it with my life."
Home Again
The Sun beat in through the windows of InuYasha’s hut. Kaede woke up and sighed. She then froze, something was wrong with the air. It smelled of an unsatisfying scent. She got dressed quickly and walked into the kitchen. When she got there InuYasha was stuffing his face with cooked rice.
"Eat much dad?" Kaede giggled.
"Good morning Kaede," said InuYasha.
"Dad, do you smell that? It smells weird," Kaede suspiciously asked. InuYasha smelled the air than stood up. He could smell it too. Kaede was then told by InuYasha to stay put. Just then a scream was heard from Kagome. Kaede screamed for her mother. InuYasha ran outside. Kaede grabbed her Jewel and held on tight. Kaede then heard her mother’s cries again, but this time for InuYasha. Kaede ran outside.
When she got outside, there stood Kikiyo. Her scent had filled the air. Kikiyo held her bow. Against the sacred tree lay InuYasha pinned and Kagome pinned.
"I knew I would get them someday. And now for you little girl, ah and I see you have the Jewel of the Four Souls," Kikiyo was looking for revenge.
"Mom! Dad! Kikiyo, you killed them!" Tears swelled up in Kaede’s eyes. She needed to go help them. She walked towards her parents. Then Kikiyo said, "I’m sorry young hanyou, but I can’t let you help them. She shot her hand out and glass came from the ground and striked Kaede in the arm. Kaede screamed out in pain but traveled on. She was almost there.
"This will kill you for sure!" Kikiyo shot a sacred arrow at Kaede. It hit her in the shoulder, but I did not kill her. Kaede bit her lip and her fangs pierced it, blood ran down her jaw line. She was breathing heavily. She finally reached her parents. She took out the arrow in her shoulder. Her blood was on it. She then took out Kagome’s and InuYasha’s arrow. Kaede took the arrow that was in her and put InuYasha’s and Kagome’s blood also on it. Now all three had their blood on the one arrow. Kagome grabbed Kagome’s bow that was next to her.
"This can’t be!" said Kikiyo. Kikiyo sent the glass pieces at Kaede again. But this time, Kaede raised her hand and said "ENOUGH!" A beam of light shot on Kaede. Her fangs grew longer and her nails grew longer. She had a lust for blood. She had become full demon. She took the bow and arrow and shot the arrow at Kikiyo. "IT ENDS HERE!" Kaede shouted at Kikiyo. She shot the arrow. Before it hit Kikiyo, she said ‘goodbye InuYasha’. Kikiyo was dead, for sure. Kaede grabbed onto her Jewel, and fell uncontious. She was lifted into the air. Her nails shortened, her fangs went back to normal, and her eyes were no longer blood-shot. The Shikon no Tama, had saved her from becoming full demon and from dying. She was slowly laid back onto the ground. All was quiet. Then InuYasha’s eyes opened.
Seeing is Believing
When Kaede opened her eyes, she was stunned to see where she was. She was at her own home as if nothing had happened. The leaves on the trees were so perfect, the grass was perfectly aligned, and everything was calm, except for the light breeze in the air. Kaede looked at her legs and arms only to see all of her cuts from the glass pieces and the wound from the arrow in her arm, gone. She was perfectly healed. She crawled over to a creek nearby and looked at her reflection. Her hair was done up beautifully in a high ponytail/bun, her eyes were more beautiful than ever before, and all the scratches on her face were completely gone. Kaede grabbed at her clothes. She was wearing a white top with huge sleeves. When InuYasha used to tell her about her mothers clothing, it looked like it now. She also wore a green skirt that went passed her feet. Since everything was so incredibly perfect, it meant something was wrong. Kaede got up and walked to her hut. But when she tried to get in for some reason, the doors were bolted shut (which was impossible to have locks back in the feudle era). "Where am I?" Kaede said to herself. "Kaede? Is that you?" Kaede was shocked to hear Kikyo’s voice. Kaede spun around to see Kikyo there.
"It can’t be! You’re dead! I killed you, I saw it with my own eyes!" Kaede was very angry that her nails came out and she was ready to fight.
"Please Kaede just listen," Kikyo sat down. Kaede was suspicious but still sat down cautiously.
" I’m not supposed to be here but I snuck into this world so that I could save you," Kaede then butted in.
" Wait, wait, wait! You wanted to save me! I don’t believe you. You’re the one who wanted to kill me!"
" I’ll tell you everything…" Kaede needed to listen closely to get all the facts straight.
