I didnt want to wake up. I knew it wasnt night yet, and I knew we'd have to leave soon, but I didnt want to wake up. I didnt want to think that all of Lok and my good intentions have gone to waste. All I wanted to do was protect people...Thats all we wanted to do. But now...with the world basically poisened...Was there anyone left?

I pushed that thought to the back of my mind as I heard the door to our room creak open. Sara walked in, her eyes closed disdainfully. " I know your awake, Kalt. " I closed my eyes tighter, I didnt want to talk to her. " You know, Its not nice to ignore a guest." she said. " I dont give a damn what ever the hell you say! If it wouldent have been for you, Lok and I would have already would already be in the warn part of the world! All we want to do is help people survive! Is that so wrong? Why did you have to stop us? What did we do to have to bear this guilt?" I screamed back. "How do you think I feel?" Sara asked. " Do you think i wanted to be a vampire? Do you think it was my choice? I was a guardian of my cities temple before I was disgraced by this form. I was a vampire killer! I was destined to use the blessed Ice Swords and bring peace to my world! But, no! I lost all hope when the vampires attacked in numbers well over 200! I couldent make it out of there..." She said.

I had never felt such pain before. I felt my body expulse all of its sorrows for her...to have the one thing she wanted...to protect people, the one thing she was good at be stripped from her. I felt her pain, now. " Listen, Kalt. Do you know what tonight is? Its the first full moon of the month. You'll be a rabid beast tonight. I need to ask you a favor." " And what would that be?" I asked. " I want you to kill me." " What!?!" I yelled. " Ive failed everyone...Seeing ice...my old student again... It reminded me that not only did I fail my city that night, but I aided in the destruction of it. I cannot stand to bear this guilt...please Kalt. From what I understand, Lok is a lycan all the time, but has grown a bit tame over these 3 years of plauge...Youre the only one capable. Please, Kalt." "Sara..." I said. I had to think. I was just pissed off at her bigtime, and now I felt sorrow for her. If she wanted death, I had to oblidge. I turned and nodded to her. She didnt understand if i meant yes or no, but I left that for her to find out.

What she didnt know is that Lok wasnt as ferocious as me during the full moon, but he could still kill people. I would have to wait. There was more than one difference between Lok and I during the full moon. I wasnt a 2-legged monster, I was a feral wolf. Four-legged, furry, and wild. Lok retained his normal form, but his eyes glowed a piercing yellow. I didnt know what would happen this night...there were so many people, half demons...People could die. Well, It was their own suffering to come with us. I went back to bed, my body still in pain from absorbing the backside of one of Sara's swords. I fell back asleep. it hurt like hell to lay on my belly, but I dead asleep before I could try to move.

I awoke some hours later in mid after-noon.The sky was still bright. " Kalt! get you lazy a** up! Were leaving!" Ice called from the main room. " Ya, Kalt! Dont keep me waiting!" an angry Lok called. I got off the bed and streched. I walked into the front room where everyone was ready with all their equiptment. " Yay! sleepy's up!" Jenny said with a smile. " 'bout time" Aiyu said. I looked at Sara. She had nothing with her, not even her swords. She was leaning against the door when i loked at her. She shot me a cold look back, then turned away. " Finally," Lok said " lets go!" we opened the door and began waking down the countless flights of stairs, my fatiuge slwoly ebbing away. I felt more and more awake the later it got. It was sort of a race aginst time. I didnt really want to kill Sara, as i knew Ice might do something, so I stopped to rest on the 18th floor and made Jenny stop with me. "go ahead, you guys," i said to lok and the others. " Jenny and i will catch up." They nodded and kept decending. I waited until they were out of Lok's earshot, which was about the 4th floor.

" Jenny," I said, can you keep a secret?" I told her everything that had happened in that room. She held her hands to her mouth and gasped. " But Kalt! You cant!" " Im sorry, Jenny. Its on my mind. When Im a wolf, Ill have no choice." "but kalt..." "there is nothing more to discuss. Come on, we need to catch up." I threw jenny over my shoulders and jumped down the crack in the middle of the stairs, as there always is in hotels. She screamed the whole way, but I managed to grab the railing on the 6th floor where Lok and the others had stopped to wait. " How the hell-?" Ice said staring at me. I placed Jenny over the rail and held on. The bar was cold and icyand my hands were melting the ice. With a final look, I said " See you at the bottom." then let go. It wasnt a long drop, but it did hurt like hell landing. I thought i broke my ankle, but them it instantly healed. Well, I guess being a lycan is helpful sometimes. I waited about 2 miniutes before Lok and the others came down. We all laft together outside onto the ice. The sky was getting dark and began to get colder. We walked for about 2 hours across the ice, having Jenny trip thousands of times saying, " Oops! guess Im not used to the ice!" We all sighed. Jenny was one bubbly half demon.

Then After one more time, I turned around and saw it. Hanging in the sky, like a giant yellow plate. Was the moon. Big and completely full. I froze to the spot. The others turned to see what i looked at, and then turned back at me, their eyes wide. "Kalt!" Ice said " Lok!". Aiyu screamed and tried to run away. Jenny ran up to me and hugged me. " Kalt...you cant do this!" I pushed her aside with all the stregnth I had. " Jenny...RUN!" i screamed.

I fell to the ground, my hands out in front of me. I felt the fur growing in on all parts of my body. Silver -white fur. I felt my ears vanish, and reappear on the top of my head. i felt the tail sprout from my spine, my face legnthen and teeth widen and sharpen. Then, the wild hit me. I was no longer myself and instantly looked at Sara, the closest target, and the closest meat. "Forgive me, Mother...Father." she said. She knelt on the ground and put her head on her knee. Jenny screamed from afar, " NOOO!!!" I charged at Sara and dove for her throat. Before I sliced through her with my now razor teeth, shee looked at my burning yellow eyes and whispered, " Thank you, Kalt, and goodbye". I closed my jaws and sunk my teeth into the geltle flesh that was her windpipe. I felt her blood flow through my mouth and splatter over my fur. Her eyes went north into her skull and she fell lifeless and limply to the ground, her warm blood melting the ice, then becoming frozen in itself.

"KALT!!! NO!!!" Jenny shouted from 13 feet away. " You f****** b*****d!" Ice said, drawing the silver sword I had lent him when we fought Sara the first time. Wait, We fought Sara! I was A human! At that moment, upon seeing my sword, i regained my human senses, but not my body. Ice didnt know that I was Okay now. 'Wait Ice' I tried to say, but all that came was a low growl. As Ice charged me and i lay there, covered in Sara's blood, a miracle, and disaster happened all at once. Lok charged in front of Ice and delivered a blow to his face, with a sickening crack. " No Lok!" i tried to say to him. " he's our friend!" Lok knelt ofer Ices limp, body. He was outcold, not dead. Lok began sniffing him, then outstreched his jaws...until I ran over and tackled him over, growling. I had to keep him from biting Ice. Hes the only human we had, we had to keep him alive. Lok and I exchanged bites and scratches for about 5 miniutes, when I noticed Ice standing up. I turned to look at him...and lok clenched his fist and blew me into the air, landing me 15 feet away on my back on the hard ice. I lay there immobolized for a miniute. When I opened my eyes again and Ice was standing over me. His eyes were closed and he was frowining. " I thought you were my friend" he said disgracefully. " Ice, " I tried to say" wait..." He drew my sword and...

Pierced my chest so far that the sword stuck out into the ice under me. I looked first at the blood that issued from under me and on top of me, then at Ice. He was standing with his mouth open over me. "What have I done..." he said."KALT! NO!" Jenny said approaching me from far away, knocking Ice aside. She was crying heavilly. " Kalt...No, you cant die...not now..."

Her words faded away as my vision was clouded with my own blood. I was falling through darkness. Light was fading away from me and I began to feel the cold of death on my fur and tail. And as i was losing hope, and preparing to die a voice came. " ice has always been right to protect me. Dont worry, I wont let you die this time." Suddenly, a great warmpth flooded my body as the light got brighter and brighter until...I coughed heavilly, the blood still flowing from my mouth. I was still a wolf, but The night was waning, I felt the fatuige comeing slowly back. I barked loudly, hoping someone would come for me. I kept barking until a small, pointy eared head poked out from behind a near building. " Kalt?" Jenny said. "KALT???" I barked again, notifying her I was still alive. " Kalt!!! You are alive!" She said running up to me.

SHe removed the sword from my wound, which was about as painful as it entering in the first place, and hugged me. I was Still to weak to move, so I just wagged me tail as she dragged me into a cove between 3 buildings. It was originally a small alley, but an Ice deposit had turned it into an Icy cave. Lok was back to his normal self, as his transformation didnt last long. Ice was putting ice on the marks from the punch that he was hit with. Aiyu was sleeping in a corner. Lok and Ice stood up to see me, and I wagged my tail at them too. Jenny put me down next a fire they made and covered me with her sweater. I looked up at het hoping she'd be okay without it. " Dont worry," she said. " Ill be fine."

I put my head down and tried to fall asleep, but Lok had said something. " Look! This building on this side, its a hospital!" I closed my eyes. Sara saved me from death. The least I could do at the moment was make sure she wouldent have to save me again. And now that we found a hospital, I knew I'd be ok. I snuggled into Jenny's sweater and fell asleep.
