Lok and I had traveled for days across the frozen wasteland, not seeing anything but ice, snow, and an occasional building sticking up out of the 6 feet of solid ice. We had eaten all of the food, and were exausted from the lack of it. All we had to do was keep on walking,he said, and we'd hit land, or something that isnt coated in ice. If our neighbors could find a store, why couldent we?I pushed the thought to the back of my mind and marched, heavily fatuiged, over the ice. There were times when I thought the swords wouldent be necessary, and I wished to drop them, but then i always remembered how fierce I could be during a full moon, and what I would be up aginst. I always kept my sword clutched at my side.
After about another hour of walking, Lok and I decided to enter one of the buildings that surpassed the height of the ice. That, and we heard screams echoing from inside. I drew my sword and had it at ready...only, we hadent entered the building yet, and the weight caused me to topple over onto the thick ice. I saw stars, but didnt want to stop, and i knew Lok wouldent let me. I got back up and ran as fast as i could into the building.Lok had already crashed through one of the windows and entered the building. What we saw in there, not only froze me in my tracks, but Lok as well. Life size ice statues of vampires, all frozen entirely through so that nothing remained of the original body, except their expressions of their last moments in life. What scared Lok and I, however, was that some of the statues limbs had bemome dismembered, but mot broken, as they were on the floor. Ice breaks, but these didnt seem to. I decided to test the ice and attempted to slash through it. It was an easy cut! which means...these limbs were frozen before they hit the ground...I closed my eyes to think, but all of a sudden, I heard footsteps. Little footsteps like that of a child. And i was right, a little boy, not over 7 years old, turned a corner and saw us.
"Mommy, " he yelled, "we have visitors!" The boy did not seen scared of Lok's disposition, but the mother, turing the corner and screaming at the top of her lungs, apparently did. She grabbed the child and ran up a flight of stairs behind her, dragging the kid by his wrist. "Wolves!!!" she yelled " Lord Ice, we have Wolves!!!" As she was running a man, appeared at the top of the stairs and said, "Thank you, Kylia. Ill deal with them" "Bless your soul!" She sadi running by him. He turned his gaze back to us. It wasnt easy to see his face, He had it covered with a black cloth. He wore a black vest over his already black shirt, but had short cut brown hair. He then drew one of the blades off his back and pointed it down at us.
"What exactly do you two want?" he asked in a cold voice. "My patience with visitors today is growing slim" "lord Ice, was it?" Lok said. "We are here to seek food and shelter, and nothing more." "But, Lok," I interrupted, "what about the screams?" "Ha! Those screams were of the one's that stand among you, frozen forever in ice, never to emerge ever again! And my good fellows, I do not believe that when you say 'Food' that you do not mean the people in this building! Forgive me for this, but I must protect the ones who havent become like you!"
He drew a multitude of throwing stars and threw them directly at us. As long as they werent silver tipped, i didnt care. But something was wrong with the bodies around me. It seemed as if they wanted me to move. I dodged one of the stars thrown at me...and for good reason. The ground I had stood on had become solid ice. I dodged more of them by hiding behind statues and pieces of ceing that had fallen during the blizzard. After awhile, he whispered"Damn, that was my last one...wait, their hearing..." Lok and I caught glances of a thumbs up and charged the stairs, making sure not to slpi on any ice. He drew tow swords out of his back and charged at us too. He slammed hi blade down in from of me, only barly missing and I realized...his sword froze the ground too...this could be bad. I drew my steel sword to block another attack...and it had turned to ice too! This could be really bad...I dodged a few more attacks, when i had realized...Lok was gone! i quickly glanced around for him, but couldent find him! I dodged more attacks from the bladesman. Was Lok frozen? Am I alone, now? I kept dodging attacks, when I slipped again on ice on the ground, my head catching the edge of a stair, Blood now fogging my vision.
I tried to stand up, but a black boot had collided with my chest. "Well, well, well. Cant keep up? I thought wolves were supposed to be smart! Oh well, I suppose i can kill you without regret..." He raised his sword to collide with my throat, but apparently thought better and sheithed it. His eyes grew wide and he toppled over, sliding down the stairs with blood issuing from behind his head. I wiped my eyes clear of blood and saw that a piece of ceiling was thrown at him from behind! And at the top of the stairs, holding a few more pieces, and giving me a toothy wolfish smile, was Lok.
"Could have done that a lot sooner." I said rubbing the back of my head. "Didnt wanna hit you!" Then Lok did the one thing he haden’t done since the blizzard. He Lauged. I carried the unconsious Lord Ice Up the stairs and into the room where the lady had brought her son. It was a long hallway filled with many doors that were all open except one. I opened the door, only to get shot right through the chest. I keeled over onto the floor, unconsious. When I awoke later, the wound was healed and i started to get out of bed, when the woman, Kylia i think was her name, pushed me back inot bed and put a warm blanket over me. She then bowed and said over and over again, "Im sorry, please forgive me!!!" "Miss, its alright, Im fine." I tried to get up again, when Lord Ice opened the door to my room.
"Kylia, If you'd be so kind." "Of course, my lord." She turned to me. "Get your rest!" She shuffeled out behind the door and then almost slammed it. "Well, " He said "Ive been killing Lycans for a long time now, but I must say, Ive never had any of them get the better of me. Nor have I seen one as fast as yourself!" he said with a smile. "Lok explained everything. You should have said something!" "We did!" I yelled, "but you didnt believe us, remember?" "Easy, Kalt." Lok said entering the room, "your gonna wake this whole place up." "Wait, what time is it?" I looked at my watch. 2:17 AM. "Oh man, I wanted to rest and get out of here, Lok!" "Well," he replied "were leaving with more than we expected." "Wait," I said hoping he had not done what I thought he did, "do you mean..." "Yup, Ice is coming with us. His real name is Ice Kenken. He was traveling when he met Kylia and settled here. Over time, all kinds of people came here sort of like as a pit stop across the ice desert. But, after awhile, the vampires and lycans got greedy and began coming here to feed. Now however, Kylia has one of Ice's swords, so he feels as thought he can leave them in peace." "Now," Ice said, "Its been a long day. You do need your rest. Dont worry, we'll leave tommorow morning." "Right" I said grabbing the blanket and toppling into the bed, instantly asleep.

The end is near...
Even a man who is pure of heart
and says his prayers every night
may become a wolf when the wolf-bane blooms
and the autumn moon is bright

may become a wolf when the wolf-bane blooms
