I had glanced over at the alarm clock that was beeping furiously next to the bed. it blinked out 7:46 AM. "Damn," I said "Still pretty early." I slid out of bed and slammed my fist down on the clock. The button for the snooze jammed itself down under the plastic, forever putting it on snooze. "Heh, Try waking me you now, stupid piece of imported crap."
I got dressed in some baggy black jeans, and a white short-sleeve shirt. To top it off, i slipped on a light jacket, colored a deep teal. I hadent paid my electricity bills for at least a month now, and the apartment had been below freesing since the blizzard, but like i would notice, nay, care. I walked out of my room and into the kitchen slash living room. Lok and i kept it neat, or at least, as neat as we could. It wouldent matter anymore, though. We were going to leave today.
I walked over to the window on the opposite side of the room and gazed deeply outside. The ground had been frozen over for the last 3 months. The only reason we still had power was a back up generator, and a couple of batteries.
I turned my gaze away from the window and set it upon the mysterious black hair on th floor. Mysterious? No, It was Lok's. It was then I noticed him sleeping on the couch. Lok wasnt just any normal Lycan. No, somehow, he had managed to remain in his wolf form when ever he wanted, and was able to control the rush that comes from the full moon and release it anytime he wanted. The only reason Lok would be on the couch, is if he had been out the night before hunting. I chose not to wake him (wise choice) and went straight into the kitchen. Nothing really left to eat that wasnt roach infested or moldy, so I did the only thing i could do. I calmly went to our neighbors room and raided the fridge for any sight of food. Luckilly, they had just gone shopping the other day. And from the looks of it, they would need to go back today. I took out one of the sausage links and bit into it raw. Hmm, could use ketchup. Yeah, Im a lycan too.
The scent off th sausages was a little much, it was preety fresh meat...wait, the scent...Oh s**t. Lok was already off the couch and standing in fornt of me with a gimmie-what-you-got-face. "So..." He growled, "How much did you take this time?" "Not enought for them to die from, but enough so that they lose a few pounds" "That Isnt the right thing to do, you know."He disaggreed. While he was a permenant werewolf, he was still 21, and his sense of values was still in top shape. I handed him a few Of the sausages which he managed to devour in about 14 seconds. "So, I guess this is it, huh?" i said. I was only 17, not yet able, apparently, to comprehend what the term 'leaving' meant. "yeah, today's the day." I then took notice of the blood stains on his shoulder cuff, and black leather pants." Did...you go out last night?" "No," He said annoyedly, "I went out this morning. 1 o' clock. Only found a few, but they satisfyed me enough for the night."
After Breakfast, i packed up most of the food, and put it in a light rucksack. Now we only had to do one thing. We needed weapons. Not that anyone would mind a 6 foot wolf standong on its hind legs pushing a poleaxe in their face, we just wanted to be safe. The truth was, we didnt want to go out to hunt for people. We wanted to protect people. Thnigs had gone horrible wrong since the blizzard. People changed. A few of the lucky one's stayed the same, while others became Demons, half-demons, lycans, vampires...so many different people. But we needed to protect as many innocent people as we could, or else...the human race would entirely die out.Being former humans, we couldent let that happen. We walked into our miraculous walk-in closet and checked out our ony weapons. Lok took his Standard Poleaxe, while I needed something better. I checked my array of swordsd and took only two, and secures their holsters frrmly on my back and right side. One sword had been made entirely of steel, and the other made of wood, but encased in silver. I knew that we were not the only werewolfs in the entire world, and nothing could be done without that blade.
"Kalt," Lok called, "lets go, were leaving now! Im sick of this dump."We walked out of our apartment and out side the entire building into the brisk, -13 degree cold. As the sunlight reflected off the ice and snow, Lok and I walked away from the one place where we used to call 'home'.

The end is near...
Even a man who is pure of heart
and says his prayers every night
may become a wolf when the wolf-bane blooms
and the autumn moon is bright

may become a wolf when the wolf-bane blooms
