After retiring from the services of Archon, whom he had been a member of their army for almost half a century, Matthew had set to his own ways and wandering again. He traveled about from tavern to tavern, bar to inn and whatnot having a good time. Occationally the sword would take over and he'd wake up in an unfamilliar place smelling of blood. He had no memory of the events so he shrugged it off as being a little too friendly with that vampire last night. This happened for a while before he met someone interesting. A man by the name of Tristin Yukishiro had met him at a tavern, hailing its origins from Antaros no less. Tristin was looking to unite the world under one banner of peace, wanting to stop all the infighting between groups. Tristin's ancestors were children of the Antarosian wars and after hearing about it from them decided not to let anything like that happen anymore. Matthew told him about his times in the war and offered his services. It turned out that there couldn't be peace without a little war so they set to fighting all the organizations that tried to stop them. Through the years Matthew had risen to second in command, through both his skill..or was it the sword's?..and through deaths in the ranking. In one particular fight however the leader was assassinated, Matthew having been almost completely taken over by Mura then had not noticed. It seemed that the more they fought the more the sword took hold of his mind. By then he was less and less aware of his surroundings, poping out only on occation. After the battle was over and casualties counted it was set to decide who would lead the syndicate. Mura opted for himself, another spoke of his cruelty which was now growing apparent, and his lack of interest of purifying and uniting but...purging. A challenge arose and the sword dealt with it as he saw fit, becoming the leader as soon as he was the victor. That was when the Syndicate took a 360 turn from unifying to purging, wiping out all that stood against them or that just stood at all rather. Members grew, though the originals were long gone, power was gained up until one fateful day that would change the balance within Matthew till the present.
