After leaving Antaros for good, Matthew wandered as he attempted to find a place for himself. It was then he discovered something that rang in his ears, a tune of personal freedom..albeit at the expense of others. The name of the song that hit him was none other than Piracy.
After attempting to head to another country by boat, the one he was on was seized by pirates. The captain of this crew of swashbucklers was none other than the dreaded Captain 'Hawkeye' Jezzi, a fearless individual...after all she was a female pirate. She offered only two options to the passengers words that would forever ring in Matthew's ears. "Life is about freedom...but it is also filled with choices. Those who do not accept the consequences of your choices are doomed to suffer...so I have two choices for you all...Release your valuables, lives, and body and join me on my ship...Sailing off into the horizon of Destiny. Or don't and force my hand.." Matthew, not personally caring before then opted to join her crew while the rest, disdaining piracy like most would, died.
Matthew worked hard on the decks of The Ravenclad for a good 10 years before being appointed First Mate. He fell in love with his Captain as she did him. The two were quite a pair, their bounty title was 'The Heartless Lovers' Pirates, First Mate Matthew 'Feral Eyed' Cerveau and Captain 'Hawkeye' Jezzi Belle, the two most wanted pirates on the high seas. However, as all pirating adventures do, theirs ended in death, namely the gallows.
They were eventually caught and held for piracy...the charges undeniable they were faced with the hangman's noose. The two fought their way out, though soon to be trapped. Jezzi offered to stay behind, letting Matthew live. He refused to let his love die such an honorless death...her response was an order to leave...and to never forget her. She broke off the necklace which she always wore, a heart shaped locket with a compass inside, and tossed it to him.
With the captains orders and love he left....never to set foot on that land again. He gave up piracy a few short years after being the Captain of the Ravenclad, saying goodbye to his crew and former life. They dropped him off on the shores of a far off country, one where they hoped his reputation would not be heard. The ex-pirate wandered the land of Archon, what he found it to be named, and saw how much like his home it was. This time, however, he was determined that his side was to win or be wiped out in the attempt..
