[Review] Buso Renkin vol. 1
Through entirely legitimate means, I have aquired a copy of Buso Renkin volume 1 one month before its actual release. So enlightened, time to recommend it to people who don't spend a lot of there time reading scanlations. I won't talk about story in this review. If you haven't yet read anything about it, be surprised. You may enjoy the story a lot more.

Buso Renkin is the manga done by Nobuhiro Watsuki several years after finishing Rurouni Kenshin, and there's a definite departure from the previous themes. Buso Renkin deals heavily in alchemy, and follows the basic manga (and RPG) formula of X teenager kills Y large ugly things using Z oversized weapon. What sets Buso Renkin apart from other manga that follow this formula (D.Gray-Man, Bleach, etc.) is that BR is a romantic comedy.
Watsuki has learned some things since RK, and has developed a sense of comedic timing. Unexpectedly, I was laughing at this romantic comedy. Usually, I chuckle at these things, or feel a sense of satisfaction. BR doesn't rely on violence between male and female (a la Love Hina, and many others) but on character quirks and others interacting with these quirks.

Just based on volume 1, BR has overtaken many on my all-time favorite anime/manga list, sending whatever was number 5 into the abyss. Volume 1 is highly recommended, garnering it mrgreen / heart
