After playing this game too much for the past 6-7 months, and to "commemorate" my belated gaia-versary, I decided to list my 5 favorite characters. Please note that favoritism does not equal actual skill. And actually I'm kind of annoyed by this game, because now I suck at Super Smash Bros. sweatdrop
5: Kuchiki Rukia (Bleach)
She was the first character I started winning with online, so I have a bit of a soft spot for her. I enjoy shooting people with her Mikuru Beam, and it's fun staying in the air charging her shot forever. The problem with Rukia is her 5 is the only version of her worth using, so you see everybody using the same basic strategy with her. It's kind of nice that she isn't common, but there isn't too much variety fighting as Rukia. She's still really fun to play with, and it's always satisfying getting people with her X. And I love running up to people and breathing on them.
4. Kenshiro (Hokuto no Ken)
Probably the most recent character I've started using, Kenshiro is actually a lot of fun. He doesn't combo as well on his own as other characters, but his direction+Y techniques can hit several people at once. The translation of Hokuto Shinken into gameplay is pretty cool. His 4 and 5 incarnations cause the opponent to have a brain aneurysm and drop to the ground, but the kicker for Hokuto Shinken is his 6. A successful hit with his up+X causes the opponent to die in 10 seconds. He even says that they'll die. Despite my excitement over making people die in 10 seconds, my favorite is his 4. His X jumps right into the pressure point hitting, which is useful for taking people by surprise. Also, the aneurysm caused by the pressure point hitting can make them fall through thin floors, making him a good ring out character. Mmmm...ring outs.
3. Killua Zaoldyeck (Hunter x Hunter)
After Rukia, Killua became another person I began to win with often. After a long hiatus of not using Killua, I started again. He's a lot more fun now, and I have to wonder how I ever won with him earlier. Killua is a close-range fighter with a couple of moves that are useful mid-range. I use his 5, pretty much for his X. The only reason to actually use 4 would be invisibility at will. His 5's X allows him to shock the opponent, knocking them pretty far back, and if they fall off the edge, it usually results in ring out. One downside to Killua is he projects his specials something awful, but it doesn't seem that much of a handicap now that I think about it. I guess only if you're stupid enough to use his X when everybody is just standing there.
2. Train Heartnet (Black Cat)
I have a real fondness for ranged characters in most fighting games (it's true, I use Tenten in Naruto fighting games), and Train has a gun. I like shooting things. And when his bullets hit the floor, they bounce. It's always fun to hit people with bouncing bullets. I use his 4, because his up+X combos well with his gun shots, and it sends opponents flying really far. I once killed all 3 of one guy's characters in 10-15 super seconds using Train's up+X. It's a really satisfying feeling. Heck, it probably is what helped endear me to Train in the first place. Also, his up+X combos really well with Kenshiro's 3. Kenshiro shows up, Hokuto Shinkens the opponent, and then I slash them with my gun and they go really far. I love doing that. heart
1. Nico Robin (One Piece)
Robin is really hard to use...but I have a lot of fun with her. I use her 5 for its up+X. It combos well with her up+Y, and it's fun to watch her arms spin around. I really like her mostly because she's such a challenge to use. I still manage to win fights against people, so I'd like to think I have some skill with Robin. I had an interesting fight against another Nico Robin, where we were both trying to Y each other into a pit (for her Y, two hands come out of the ground and, if they hit, they force the person to fall through the floor. Guaranteed kill if you're on a platform above a pit). I won the Robin-battle after I took the fight to solid ground, but it was still interesting to try and get another Robin to fall to her death. I still lost the match, but it was a good feeling to know that I was a better Robin. So I like her because she's difficult to use and because I'm apparently not that bad using her.

That sounds like a good reason to me. xd I haven't played fighting games in a long, long time, but I think I would like a character that is uncommon but that I'm good at. X3
