The Trials and Tribulations of Gender Neutral Man (and co.)
This place serves as an art dump, a place to review whatever needs to be reviewed, and a place to ask questions and get answers.
Why I love my thread
If you're one of the 4 people who reads this journal every so often, I'm guessing you know me from the thread I started way back when, PotOT or PotO or Point out the Obvious Thread. It is the only thing I post in now. And there must be some kind of charm to it.

At first glance, it seems so...exclusive. The obvious can really only be a few things. The avatar has hair, the avatar's hair is red...etc. I think a few people post to participate, but the ones who post again and again always seem to be those who get creative with their writings. There is always somebody who posts for 20-100 pages, before they leave and are never seen again in the thread.

Reading through several pages in the thread, I always enjoy the sentences of Kaworu, Hiro (back when she posted...), and several other regulars. It lacks the conversational quality of the Post About The AAY, and I would not have it any other way. I love being able to post cryptic lyrics from music, and I love being able to repeatedly quote "Come Together" in ways that make sense. There is something at work with the words "may" and "might", their total indecisiveness making anything obvious. Really, anyone may be or might know anything. The failure to go to any extremes allows anything to be posted. Somehow, the seemingly limited status of "obvious" becomes a world of possibilities. Maybe the avatar above me likes smelling scented candles. It's possible to post this.

Without creativity, I honestly feel this thread would've died 3122 pages ago (currently at page 3123). It's always fun to read the creative posts, and I look forward to reading it next week, next month, and (hopefully), next year. I hope you look forward to it as well.

There is indeed charm to it. heart

Do you stalk your own thread a lot? xd That is, go back pages and pages to read other people's post enough to know that someone posts for a bit and then doesn't come back? I am impressed. surprised

Kaworu does indeed have wonderfully creative posts. ^^ I strive to be like him and the other regulars.

I do look forward! Yes! 3nodding

Jentin, first of all I would like to thank you on behalf of everyone who loves your thread, it is almost like the oxygen we breathe, a vital necessity for the enjoyment of WG. Your thread is undoubtedly one of my favorites, and one of the reasons I made WG my home.

Indeed, it is quite fascinating how much "obvious" stuff we can come up with, unlike many threads where you reach a certain limit and that is it. It is also amazing how a thread can live with only about four or five regulars and the posts of those who only post once and never come back. But, as you said, creativity is a large part of that success.

Shatter, you flatter me so, and I thank you as well. The role you have played out in the success of the thread is immense and we must continue to support it in Jentin’s absence and in his presence so that it may live for a long time.
