I spend a lot of time watching TV and movies, playing various video games, and various other non-exercise involving tasks. Some genres I feel could stand some improvement, and I feel that their are some very simple fixes that could be made:
1) Medical Drama: A lot of people seem to enjoy medical dramas, liking the crassness of Dr. House and the attractiveness of Dr. McHot of Grey's Anatomy. Is there a weakness in these medical dramas? No, I think it's a very solid genre. I think the whole genre just needs something new. What there needs to be is a medical drama about a Doctor who can fly, a la Mary Poppins. He would operate best while sky-diving. Picture it, he's sky-diving while operating on a patient (every bit of medical equipment is attached to a parachute, so it's a fully stocked free-falling operating room), and not only is the patient flat-lining, the operating table's parachute refuses to open. So even if they manage to defribulate (sic?) the patient, the patient could still die from falling. I'd watch it.
2) Soap Operas: There are a lot of problems with this genre, but I can respect that I am not its target audience. So...more eyepatches plz!
3) Reasonably Attractive Female Shoots a Bunch of People for No Good Reason: This genre seems tailor-made for the teenaged male who is currently streamlining testosterone. Reasonably attractive female? Guns? Explosions? Yes plz! This set-up needs a few improvements. For one: characterization plz! There does not seem to be any real motivation for why this female has to shoot these nameless thugs. A bit more exploring of our angry female's psyche and motivations would be very nice. Make there be a good reason for why this female would shoot a bunch of people. Kill Bill gave the female a good reason, so I am pretty sure other movies would be able to.
Do any of these ideas have merit? Characterization does...eye patches do...flying doctors...hm. Flying doctors...there must be something there.
