The Writings of Druki
This journal contains stuff that has happened to me either in Gaia or in RL.
One year
It's been a year since my brother has left on his mission. Amazing how time flies. He told me in his last e-mail that he met someone down there that sells a variety of knives, daggers, and swords and that he found this awesome cane sword. He said that the guy is selling it for about $100 USD, so I'm going to forward him the money (plus a little extra for shipping) as a birthday/Christmas/one-year anniversary present. Or just a present in general. Swords are cool, but cane swords are flippin' awesome! Here's hoping he can find out how to ship it.

As for myself, I've just been working a lot lately. So much so that I've only had Sunday's off for the past two weeks. Although that sucks, it's nice to know I'm earning days of overtime. smile

Feeling kind of sick, though. Theraflu can only do so much to help situations. It's even worse when I'm at work and I really shouldn't be sick to begin with. And I shouldn't really ask for sick days, because that just makes me look bad. Luckily, I'm getting Saturday and Sunday off, so that will make a much needed break from work.

I hate some of the customers at work, though. I mean, the usuals are nice enough. We joke around with them and talk and whatever. But man, new customers must have something pretty far up their butt to put them in that bad of a mood.

Like the other day, for example. Our front counters are sort of double-decked. The little credit/debit keypad is on the lower counter, along with enough room so you can set your tray down and add things to your coffee and the like. The top counter is where we leave receipts so the runners can get the food for the particular receipt. When we ring up the total and give the change back, we place the receipt on the top counter then, if there's a line, we kindly ask the customer to step to the side so we can help the next customer.

So it's a pretty fast moving morning, food is being made fast and we're getting customers in and out. But this one lady was just a jerk. I ring up her total and am counting out her change when the runners are already completing her fairly simple order. So she gets it, places her tray on the lower counter and starts checking her breakfast sandwiches.

Me: "Excuse me, ma'am, what are you doing?"
Her: "I'm checking my sandwiches to make sure you did them right."
Me: "Alrighty then, would you mind stepping over and checking them there *points to a spot one step to her right* so I may help the next customer?"

Perfectly logical at this point.

Her: "No."
Me: "...I'm sorry, what?"
Her: "I said 'No'. I'm checking my sandwiches. If that's a problem, then you can step to the side and help the next customer.

So I did the next logical thing: I stepped to the side and asked to help the next customer. And as I do this, she just gives me the dirtiest look I've ever seen, saying under her breath, "******** robot".

How dare I do my job. Really.

Then there's a bunch of other things at work, like how I've had technical difficulties with cheeseburgers.

Also, I've discovered that not only is Hobo a lifestyle, but also a smell and a language.

gonk Jeez... why do people have to be so mean? I mean come on! If she said you should move instead and you do she can't complain! She gave you the option! People need to be more considerate... even of those who are serving them. =/

I hope you get better customers in the days to come... and get better too!

"This job would be great if it weren't for the ******** customers."

So saith the sacred Clerks, the handbook for everyone unlucky enough to work in the service industry.

Yeah, customers are pretty mean. At least at my work when they yell at me I can't understand them because they all speak spanish...
