Pretty much the two things I'm going to focus on.
Mother's Day
So we go to talk to my brother for about an hour. It was touching to say the least. Doesn't sound like he's changed much.
He eats steak and brownies (made from scratch) just about everyday. Just because he can. And spices make a world of a difference, so he tells us since we sent him quite a variety.
"Pimp" is a very derogative term in Uruguay, unlike the jokingly manner it is used as in today's society. His companion was called a pimp and everyone in the household was shocked and stunned.
Little girl: "How many girlfriends do you have at home?"
My brother: "*laughs* I have no girlfriends at home waiting for me."
Little girl: "*points to his companion*" How many do you have waiting at home?"
Companion:"*laughs harder* I have 5 waiting at home." (I'm pretty sure this was said as a joke.)
Little girl: " eek Are you a pimp?"
Household: "*DISBELIEF*"
It's very cold down there, specially since it's starting it's winter. A lot of wind-chill.
In addition to his bike quite literally falling apart one piece at a time, it was stolen a few days before the call. When walking home, they came across the usual gang that hangs on a corner. When asked about it, they mumbled and murmured. When offered about $100, the congregated and talked about how much drugs they could buy. The bike was soon found on a inactive member's doorstep that night/the next day.
He's saving his peanut butter for a special occasion. Stuff like that more or less has to be imported. His Cheez-Its are gone, I think.
Prom
So I rented a gangsta tux that was outrageously over-priced. That's not the point, though. The point is I looked mighty fine.
So I headed to my date's house at about 4:00pm to take pictures. We left at about 4:30 to take professional photos of the two of us so we could pass them around and do that thing. Still haven't gotten them back yet as the place was packed Prom night but we should be getting them back tomorrow.
So we head for the place at about 5:00pm, arriving in the general area at about 5:30-5:45. We had to kill about two hours of time, so I being the genius that I am suggested we do something. We ended up seeing Spiderman 3.
In our formal attire. Brilliant, I know. Suffice it to say we had many stares at us. cool
After the movie, we headed to Prom.
That was fun. We got there about 8:30-ish, got on the dance floor about 9:00-ish and didn't stop until midnight when Prom ended. That was fun. Many people were seen, much fun was had.

Those prom pictures are mighty slick, and excellent choice on the non-standard suit. There are only so many black, plain-cut tuxes you can see before you start wanting to watch March of the Penguins because the visual variety is greater. Also, spices are indeed what makes the world go 'round. I'm getting a spice rack for the new place sometime next week. Mmm, spice, you make a college diet so much better.
