Battle of the Heart

I can't let go
I can't begin
I can't do anything
To please you

I wait for the end
I wait for another way
I wait for my heart to turn cold
I wait for you

The battle rages on
But I just stand there watching
The flames leap high into the sky
And I feel a burning in my side

Both you and I are dragged
Into a battle of death
With eachother
I stare at you unbelieving of what fate has done now

I used to know you
You used to know me
And now we battle like strangers
And I wait for my end as you wait for it too

I lay to the side just waiting
For the final blow to the heart
Closing my eyes surrendering myself to you
But when you are about to take my last breath

You sit and cry to the sky
I sit up and look into your eyes
And see the tears on your cheeks
We lived through a battle of the hearts

The fire dies down and we smile
Then the world melds into a grassy field
And we are little children out to play
The world peaceful and happy

As we run together and laugh
You mirror me and I mirror you
Never to fall apart again until the next time
No longer strangers no longer enemies

Until the next hurtful cut and scream of pain
Burns through the sky and turns our
World of peace into a land of ash
With nothing left but our rage
And our hearts no longer in sync

Until then I am glad you are my friend
And you are glad I am yours
Until then let's enjoy ourselves
Without a battle of the hearts
