Drowning
Rain drops fell from the sky that day,
When all our tears ran dry.
Thunder trembled the heavens,
When all our moans turned to sobs.
Our eyes, blazing red, and cold.
Our somber faces set in stone.
What a happy little lullaby,
Our placid mother sings.
For me the ocean pulls me under...
My blankets, the harsh, unforgiving waves.
My bed, the sandy bottom of the sea.
Rocking me back to sleep with the promises of breath.
Lulling me back to the darkness with the promises of no more light.
Promises of ease and relief, dragging me down to my doom.
The rain falls heavy,
Say goodbye to the world you thought you knew.
For the waves are sullen companions,
And they'll only carry you back to me.
Then we'll sleep together.
With all the promises in our heads...
Laughter, light and forgiving,
Will soon lay us down to serenity.
