Book 1: Chapter One ~ Unexpectations


"The strange sighting of "The Shadow Kitten" is still leaving Japan's cities wondering even more then the first sighting of the be-." Aimay turned off the small T.V. that was installed in the kitchen, so much for the peaceful breakfast she had in mind. Aimay cleaned up her empty bowl of porridge, and thought about what she just saw on the T.V.

'The Shadow Kitten?' Aimay thought, she never believed in tall tales, or any fairy tale she ever heard of, but this sounded big. Aimay grabbed her backpack still wondering about what she saw, as she walked to school with questions scrambled in her mind. "Hey! Over here!" Aimay turned around to see her "friends" calling out to her, hands waving, and backpacks ready to be put to use. "Hold these," said a random girl from the group, and the group of girls continued to chat on about many ridiculous things that Aimay rarely cared about such as make-up, boys, and this weeks spring fashion trend.... Rrrinnngg!! The bell rung, in time for school, and Aimay got stuck holding the bags, following the girly group to class- after all, they all went to the same classes, but so did a certain boy...

"Alright see ya at lunch!" yelled one of Taneki's friends. Taneki waved back and headed to first period, and saw the girl that he noticed from the beginning of school carrying even more bags then usual. "Get over here, you!" Said one of the girly-girls from one of the most popular groups in the school. The girl settled the bags on an empty desk where the girl wanted to sit, the group of girls settled on chairs, and then... RRrriiinnggg! The bell rung. "Good Morning class, i hope that you finished the homework assigned to you-" The teacher stopped and saw the girl standing blank mindedly in the middle of the room looking for a place to sit. " Ms. Sokayama, I can not have you interrupt the class, please take a seat next to Mr. Soki here..." The teacher pointed to the seat next to Taneki. 'Ms. Sokayama?' Thought Taneki. The girl sat next to Taneki and continued becoming silent, as her usual self.

It was the end of the school, and once again, Aimay was being pushed around. "Meet me at the end of school ok? Then I'll give your charm back, see ya." Said one of the girls from the group, and Aimay could've sworn that she heard some of the girls snickering. Taneki knew what they were going to do, but he couldn't do anything about it, escpecially since he had some things to do after school at school.

Aimay waited, and waited, and waited, for the girl to give back her charm she lent her for a party the girl was going to, and soon not long, Aimay fell asleep on a nearby bench right outside the school. Taneki shortly appeared out of the school building and saw Aimay sleeping with her jacket around her. Taneki knew that this would happen, and he knew he couldn't do anything about it... Taneki shook her, trying to wake her up, but all he got was a tired groan. Taneki thought that if he called her name she would wake up, he thought and thought, and all he could think of was... "Hey can you wake up? Ms. Sokayama?" Taneki shook Aimay one more time, and then...SMACK! Aimay woke up and swung her arm which hit Taneki's nose HARD! "Oh my God! I'm sooo sorry!" Aimay said as she got up to see if Taneki was ok. "I-I-I'm fine.... ow...." Taneki rubbed his nose, and looked up to see Aimay look down at him. Taneki didn't notice, but Aimay looked beautiful under the streetlights, but then he turned away, to ignore it... 'Wow... That was odd' Taneki thought. "Are you ok?" Said Aimay. Taneki turned and saw the girl again. "I said I was ok, geez!" Taneki got up and dusted himself off, and found out that the girl was much shorter than he was.

"Don't you have a parent to come pick you up?" Taneki said looking down at the small girl. The girl looked away, and looked as if she was about to cry. "....No..." Said Aimay. Taneki never saw a girl look so sad, and then he held out a hand that seemed welcoming. Aimay looked up at the hand and then at the boy. "Here, go to my house and you can call your parents, you don't have a cell right?" Said Taneki. Aimay shook her head, and grabbed Taneki's hand in hope, and Aimay took her jacket, and wrapped it around her shoulders. "What's your name?" Asked Taneki. "My name?" Aimay asked in surprise, she never had someone ask her for her name before, so she was surprised. "It's Aimay... What is yours?" Asked Aimay, blushing for the first time 'What is this hot feeling?' . "My name is Taneki" Said Taneki as he looked up at the lit sky trying to hide his blush...

Now, that they know each other, they will see each other more then they
think... smile
