The Outlet of Unusual Talent
Dear Daddy
Last wekend my dad came home, only for three days, but he came home. It had been a month since the last time I had seen him and I was looking forward to seeing him again. My dad works as a boiler-maker up in Fort McMurray see, and his work demands him to be there for long expanses at a time. A boiler-maker is pretty much a person who maintains the quality of the boilers and silos for Syncrude. If you don't know how large an oilsands rig is think of those circular tanks that transport gas on trains, and multiply that size by about a thousand or more. When one of those things shut down, all hell breaks loose and my dad could be gone for months trying to get it back up. Anyways, I'm getting off topic again. So he came home at 5:30 am Friday and did what he usually does, sleeps the rest of the day away (It's an eight hour drive from Ft. Mac to Red Deer, plus bad conditions...). My brother loves my dad with all his heart and when he comes home, tries to get his attention and quality 'Guytime' whenever he can.

Lately though he's going through the phase that I went through at his age, a time whewre you realize that he never does anything with you unless it's a movie he hasn't seen (Which is a reare thing in itself). So Now we both have realized that every time he goes away, me miss him less and less. He told my mom that and she made my dad make an effort to get some time with my brother. So what does he do? Goes and buys tickets to a hockey game when someone calls over the phone offering them. Does he check the date? No, no he doesn't. So now my brother is all pumped to go to the hockey game, but mom and I have found the tickets...They are for a monday. Dad leaves for work early Sunday mornings. Now mom isn't happy with my father, my brother is going to be crushed and miss him even less.

You learn to live with things like that, to learn that you can never really trust my dad to keep his promises. He says he'd bring you to the three o'clock movie and goes out for coffee at noon. He comes home no later then seven. He doesn't call when he's at work, we call him, and even then he's usually sleeping, or just about to go and get supper. He has a sense of humor that I enjoy most of the time, but some of his 'jokes' weren't funny. I remember when I was little and my dad was home. I asked him something and he asked me my birthday and my name. Like he didn't know me. It hurt me so much, I ran downstairs and read to try and escape the dissapointment. Thats what it was. My mom told him to stop with those jokes and he had, but now when he tells jokes, you can't tell if hes joking or actually mad at you...It's hard. Hard living without him there, because he misses everything, and hard living with him, because he can't deal with stuff. He couldn't figure out how to use the remote, so he flung it across the living room. It's sad really...

I have royals to get to though now, so yay, fun people, although I don't have a real group to hang out with. Lada and I usually just wander...

Toodles.

Really sorry about all of the spelling and grammar errors, but I don't have time to fix them just now...

Fortuanetly I've been going through the same thing, except that my dad is there.. he's just not.. there I guess.. I've grown acustom to not needing him. Unfortuanetly with that has also come a growing hate for him. Part of the reason why I'm leaving.

Lada goes to royals?
