First off, let it be known that I have not read the book, so I cannot make any judgements based on how much it differed or how much better/worse it was. My brother has told me, as he has read the book, that there were some changes made. Expect that if you've read it.
So the DaVinci Code...I'm still trying to grasp it's storyline in my head, really. Basically, you got a guy, Robert Langdon, and a police agent, Sophie, who are caught up in the web of a giant myth that's possibly true. Basically, a group of people know as the Priory of Zion are protecting a secret, which is the location of the fabled Holy Grail. Another group, a shadow cult with people in high places called Opus Dei, wishes to destroy the relic. Why? Well apparently, it's found out the Holy Grail is not an object, but a person, a possible blood descendant of Jesus Christ. They seek to destroy it, because by doing so they can, basically, eliminate religion and say that Jesus was a mere mortal.
So how are Robert and Sophie led to the possible Holy Grail? In the beginning, Sophie's grandfather left clues while he was dying. He sets the basis for the whole affair. They later go to a history buff, an old colleague of Robert's, where they learn of the potential of the Holy Grail through more of DaVinci's works. And so the continue all around Europe looking for this person or object.
So overall, I thought it was pretty interesting. It's not real, which is why I enjoyed the mystery it presented.
