It's amazing what can happen over two years time. Directly after that Alabama trip I was hired at a new job. I worked as a cashier for a year, then moved to inventory, and just last month was promoted to what they call SWAT. Pretty much I count and track the product in the store, research any missing bits, adjust inventory as necessary, file reports and what not... and yeah, a lot of that sort of thing. I can't say I don't enjoy it, but it certainly keeps me busy enough. It's full time, which is something I can't say I've ever had, and I'm about to take advantage of my second holiday with this status. Hurray for benefits!
Over the past couple years I've been out with friends a lot, which has settled down significantly over the past month, and I have yet to take another vacation. Even though it will mean a week without pay, I'll be going with my family to visit Louisiana at the start of August (which means lots of driving on my 24th birthday) and my fingers are crossed in the hope that my husband will be going with us.
He also just got full time status with his job. He works security and the companies are being switched up, so he got a job with the replacement one. Go figure, his paid time off doesn't go into effect until the week after the trip.
At least in a couple of weeks we'll have a check coming in from an insurance claim. A big chunk will be going to repairs on my car, but I'm hoping a bit will be left to help us out. It has taken over a month just to get the claim settled. Some guy hit my car (in my own driveway) while leaving a wedding (that was hosted at my home) and didn't tell me until the next day (even though I was inside when it happened). My bumper is nice and torn up and I have some dents and scratches along the back driver's side.
Awhile back my best friend's, who were engaged at the time, split. Turns out she preferred women. She is happily (as far as I know) still with the girl (originally a friend to all of us) she left him for.
He wasn't so quick to move on, but as of yesterday he is now dating my little sister. It's kind of cool, I guess, knowing that if they work out he could end up being my brother-in-law someday...
I really hope things don't get crazy messed up though... because I would hate to either have to choose or deal with tension between my sister and my best friend. I couldn't imagine being without either of them.
Numerous other things have gone on throughout the years, but nothing too big to really go on about. Not like anyone will read this anyway. =P For some reason, though, I'm comforted by updating now and then. I like going back through entries occasionally and reading over what was occurring and how it made me feel at the time.
