With her Vulpix, Tomiko, in her arms, Rose makes her way through the mines within Twist mountain in search of a group of Team Plasma members that had been seen on the run in the area. After their lord N had left the region, and their leader Ghetsis fled, it's a wonder why small factions of them still function. Regardless of their reasons, Rose and her group still have the task of rounding up what few members remain. Up ahead, she sees light breaking through an opening that exits out onto one of the many wooden walkways that line the inside of the quarry.

“Come out come out where ever you are...” she whispers to herself as she ponders on what direction to search first. As the young girl turns to walk down the suspended wooded walkway, Tomiko begins to whine about something and squirms around in Rose's arms. “What's wrong girl? Still worried about the rain?” Just as Rose finishes, she feels the walkway jerk underneath her feet. The supports that keep it up suddenly give way and the platform plummets to the quarry floor below. As she falls, she sees two shady figures standing on one of the platforms on a lower level, however this is the last thing she sees before blacking out when her body crashes into the hard rocky floor several stories below.

Out cold, dead to the world, the trainer slips through the dream world unaware of her surroundings. Something feels hot, all around her, like she is covered in fire. Her mind struggles to bring her back to consciousness again. When she comes too, she becomes aware of something standing on top of her while she laid there on her back. Tomiko has perched herself defensively on top of Rose and is using inferno to keep a ring of fire around the two of them defensively. It seems Rose had used her own body to cushion the fall for her Vulpix. There's something else, three Team Plasma grunts and one of the sages are surrounding them with their pokemon trying to break through the wall of fire Tomiko is putting up.

“Tomiko, good to see you're okay..” Rose says weakly as she realizes a sharp pain in her back and finds herself in too much pain to stand. “Damn it, I got careless...”

“She's awake, forget this, we should go before the others get here.” She hears the sage say as they realize she regained consciousness already. Without wasting anymore time, they retreat and escape from the mines knowing Rose's team will be distracted by their fallen leader.

“Rose!” she hears someone call out from higher up. One of the other trainers sees her from the top of the quarry. “Hold on, we will be there shortly!” Tomiko stops spitting out fire now that the sage and his grunts are gone and quickly turns to lick at Rose's cheek with a slight whine, worried about her.

“I'm sorry, I won't let it.. happen again. I'm glad.. you are okay... Tomiko.” Rose grits her teeth slightly as sharp pains shoot up her back. Before long, she blacks out again, unable to handle the pain just yet...
