You’re MY Special Someone

She was everything. He held his breathe as he waited for her to turn towards him. Kade couldn’t help wondering about things that were . What if she wasn’t married. If she was a single woman. How different their lives would be. His eyes devoured every inch of her. Long golden hair kissed by the sun, light as a feather and soft as silk. He memorized the texture into his mind. The imprint was left in the lines that sketched his future into his palm. She belonged with him. That much was clear to him now as it had been many years, centuries ago. He could not forget the way his heart and mind jumped upon seeing her again. It had been a lifetime, or two since he’d seen her last. She was the realization he waited for. Waiting for her had become a part of his life. If it took five lifetimes then he would wait. Kade never realized it was her he waited for. But, when their paths finally crossed; he knew. Memories poured into his mind and there was no way for him to deny the truth. She steadied him.

Did it bother him, her married to another? Of course. Kade was a proud man. Every time he thought about her husband. He didn’t think of the man often. Things were already complicated. Who would really believe they were meant for each other. That they had loved each other in lifetime passed? The only place such a confession would land them in was the crazy house. Kade could not afford to allow his village to fail in this way. They needed him and he needed her. It was his sacrifice to make. Shame would fall upon both of them if they were caught. He knew what it would do to her reputation as an honest woman. What it would do to the way his people saw him as a man. He knew not. But, he had no intention of them ever being caught. Instead, his thoughts were filled with ways to win her over so that she would leave her husband. Peeta always thought himself Kade’s rival. He was a man of wits and strength this was true. But, there is no competition to be had between him and Kade. Kade was a hunter, solider and businessman. In battle, he would destroy Peeta. Since the man had done no wrong to him, Kade would never lay a finger on him. He would never harm the man his woman was bound to. His Charolette was beyond bound. Love entered her heart for this man. Kade stifled the rage of injustice that always entered his mind at the thought of Charolette loving another man. She already gave herself unto this man was that not enough? Did she also have to render her heart to him?

She turned then. Her smile taunting the anger that had risen until it simmered to nothing. It was that simple between them. Just one look was able to calm him of any unsettling thoughts. He had no need to apologize, the wait had not been long. Kade didn’t want to think about the minutes she was left alone waiting for him. In these woods, there was no account of the things that could not happen. Each meeting became a risk. Kade imagined what could happen if Charolette was met by unsavoury characters before he got to her. He made a point to be early. Today could not be helped. But, it couldn’t become a habit. There were too many men without honour moving through the land. The forest happened to be the best place for these men to mask their movement. It was of course something a woman would not spend much thought on. On the contrary these thoughts consumed Kade’s mind . He couldn’t imagine what he would do if any thing happen to her.

Ten minutes is too long a wait.” He watched her slid off the rock and lift her skirts to make her way towards him. Holding his breath he watched the steps close between them. He should have walked towards her but he was too content watching her move. There was the sway of her hips, the way her legs were exposed as she manoeuvred the rocks before she finally stopped in front of him. A grin tugged at his lips. Kade knew that look in her eyes. It travelled through space and time over various life spans just for this moment of recognition. Charolette wanted to touch him. The look in her eyes echoed his own desire. Having knowledge of her, what she liked and what she didn’t only increased his desire for her. Kade knew every inch of her skin. But, he would not touch her while she belonged to another. His restraint wore thin each time they came together like this. The forest was wild and filled with secrets. It would hold their secret well as it had been doing. Her voice held a wistful appeal as her fingers brushed his curls away from his face. He wanted to curl into her hand, to savour the feel of her fingers on his skin. Every memory of their life before became a curse, a double edged sword that haunted him. Each time his mind wandered he would be caught in thoughts of her, of them that could not be. How many times had they been reborn simply to love each other again? Kade lost count as he looked into the eyes of he woman he loved. Hers were eyes that remained the same. They held the same scorching look that burned him straight to his soul. There was no escaping those eyes. He could not escape her. Didn’t want to.

Her smile faded and he could only guess at her thoughts. They could not be far from the situation at hand. She thought on her betrayal to the man she married. It didn’t matter that his mind railed that it was him that she should be loyal to. They spent lifetimes loving one another, but she’d willingly opened her heart to another. Justice, fate and all of her friends turned their back on him it seemed. How could they have allowed the woman to whom his soul was bound care for another? His anger was wild. Something he always managed to keep under control in her company. He would not allow his anger to spoil what time they had together. There was much time when they were alone for him to curse the unjust manner of their circumstances. Silence stretched between them. His eyes never let hers. He continued to stare at her even when she looked beyond him, beyond the moment they were in. Emotions flashed across her face before they turned into a smile once more. She returned to him. From her question it seemed neither of them were willing to let the moment be wasted on what could not be changed. They had this meeting place. It was a place untarnished by others. When here they were hidden from the world and her intrusions!

My day...” he looked at the smile knowing it was a pretence. Charolette had never been good at masking her feelings. “ was productive. Hunting went on as usual.” Kade was not a man to stray from his normal routine. He enjoyed knowing the structure in his life. When he woke he knew his entire day before it began. Charolette disturbed that order. She tossed in an element of surprise, something he hungered for in his days. He felt like another man when he was with her. Free to simply enjoy the simple pleasures in life. She didn’t bow to his every word. His people loved him, but there was always the reminder that he was lord above them. He had not relationship with them as he did with this woman. She didn’t grasp how vital that was for him. Kade took a step towards her closing the space between them so she would be forced to tilt her head back to look up at him. “ How was your day? I admit I cannot claim to recall much of my own. My thoughts were filled with getting here. Indeed my day has circled to this very point with us standing here.” Kade brushed his thumb against her lower lip. “Charolette,” her name was a whispered prayer, a plea. “ How much longer must we do this?

His body crowded hers. He wanted her senses surrounded with him, wanted her thinking of nothing other than him. Kade desired most of all her response to be one he looked for. It couldn’t matter. Wouldn’t matter. She had loved Peeta for a lifetime. But, they had loved for many lifetimes. Would she be willing to toss away all they had lived through for this one man? Could she walk away from them? Kade did not know if he would be able to let her go. Charolette worried over what would happen if she left her husband. She worried about the war that would ensue. If she feared for him or her husband he was not sure. No matter how much Kade convinced her he would protect her and himself, she still refused his offer. Her denial of him was indeed beginning to wear him thin. He wondered what she would do if he simply took her. He asked himself once again why he’d given her the choice? Wives were taken many times by their husbands rivals. Many were never returned. It would not be any means of revenge that spun him into action. Love would be the reason. He loved this woman yet she refused him. She refused him even when her heart raced and her pulse tapped at her pale skin when she was near him. Did she react this way towards Peeta? Kade bent his head and kissed her shoulder. “ What have you decided for our fate?
