                  Violante Voltaire."

He didn’t know what to make of it. Was Sebastian seriously trying to win these clients over? Elijah smiled at the woman before turning to his friend. The man surely knew what he wanted to say about the woman that was in charge of the project. “ She won’t do Sebas. You aren’t dealing with just anyone. They aren’t just going to want brains. Anyone can hire someone with brains. The full package is going to sell this deal. Brains with the look to accompany it. You know as well as I do it’s the appearance of the person pitching that sells the deal as much as the proposal. If you sent this woman,” he turned to Violante, “no offense dear. You are indeed nice to look at but you don’t have the edge to pitch this sale. Of course you can always use her to prep the other person and make sure all paper work is in place. ” He turned back to Sebastian, “ Wouldn’t want her to feel left out of the project. It is after all her hard work that got you this far. You just need someone to seal the deal. From what I see…she isn’t it.

Elijah didn’t know why he bothered with the words. His friend knew this woman would simply not do. Perhaps that had been the reason he called him? It wouldn’t be the first time he’d been put in such a situation. Elijah didn’t mind being the ‘bad’ guy. For him, business always came before personal feelings. There was no room for feelings in the work place. “ I did happen to see a blonde that would perhaps suffice. She was sitting a few seats across from me.” Elijah wouldn’t mention the look of boredom that was on the blonde’s face, nor the glance of spite that danced across the table directed at Ms. Voltaire. He imagined Sebastian knew all about the little jealous spout between his workers. This girl was obviously the apple of his eye. Elijah just knew that apple needed some shining.

Calling him self genius, he moved over to the large office windows that allowed light to filter into the boardroom. He loved these rooms. They always allowed so much light and gave the feeling of standing above everyone else. It definitely served as a confidence booster to be so high above others, able to look down at them and judge their actions as they made it. The height the room offered was all about power revealing it and relishing in it. People looking down felt it and those that looked up at the stories after stories of wide bay windows felt it too. Everyone wanted to be right where he was, on the top floor looking down while holding all the cards in his hand.

Though….” Elijah enjoyed controlling the conversation and the suspense. He waited another few beats before continuing on, holding his hand up for silence when Sebastian would have spoken, “ we could have some thing done to improve the woman’s appearance. Her face is definitely unique. It’s simply what she refuses to do with it that makes her appear so….plain.” This time he turned his attention to Violante, “ I’d take you on my dear, but only if you improve your looks. Make up your mind. I assure you I don’t have time for pleasantries or gasps of surprise. I’m here to assist you in snagging this deal. And, trust me; you’ll need me to snag it. You may have all the paper work down but you don’t know the business the way I do. That’s fact doll. Sebastian, ” he slapped his friend on the shoulder, “ You’ll let me know the outcome won’t you? I’m afraid I have another meeting to go to. Let’s say I’ll have my people arrange anything in case the lovely lady decides to join me on the mound to pitch this deal.

Ms. Voltaire, it was a pleasure to met you. Wonderful work you’ve done so far. I look forward to possibly sealing the deal with you.” Elijah flashed the woman a smile before he left. He knew there were only two reactions for a woman like Ms. Voltaire to have once he’d left the room of course and that was either pure unadulterated hatred, or mortification. Both amused him. Women always seemed to take these things seriously. It wasn’t as if he were telling her, she wasn’t beautiful. In the end, he was sure she would thank him for the change. Not only would it improve her business persona but he was sure her personal life would also experience a boost. He wouldn’t take all the credit for it. Some of it relied heavily on the arrangement of her natural appearance. Elijah admitted to himself as the elevator doors closed; she had the most devastating eyes he’d the chance of seeing on a woman before. They were full, dark brown eyes that seemed almost black; unfortunately they were hooded by unshaven eyebrows that just took away from what they could be. Elijah tried to imagine the woman after her make over. He had no doubt in his mind she’d do it. This project was her baby. She’d been the one making the reports he’d read and he would admit it was exquisite work she did. All that was left to do was get her face and clothes up to par.

Elijah realized only when he stepped out of the elevator that he had not formally introduced himself to Ms. Voltaire. He would have to remember to do so upon their next meeting. Elijah had a feeling about her and he was hardly ever wrong about these things.

                  Time Flies On Invisible Wings

Elijah felt he’d waited long enough. Even fell upon the day with a gentle ease even though the city seemed to rush through it. As usual, the sun took it’s own time setting behind the noise and the large buildings that tried to rush it on it’s course by blocking it from view. Everyone knew; just because you didn’t see something didn’t mean it wasn’t there. Elijah knew just because he hadn’t heard anything didn’t mean there wasn’t an answer. Still he’d been patient enough. He didn’t have time to wait and he’d only booked the ladies for a specific time. If they were going to get thing done they should start today. No point it dragging on until the next when the whole evening was at their disposal. Unlike most of the calls he’d made for the day, Elijah didn’t have his assistant make the call and then patch it through. There was no need when he had Sebastian’s cell number. Direct calls didn’t need a third party. Getting out of his seat, he poured himself two fingers of scotch. Elijah always enjoyed a bit of the spirits before he unwound for the rest of the day. Tonight his schedule seemed booked, but he did have a few hours before he made the rounds to check in with Sebastian. He knew his friend would have the answer he was looking for.

Hello Sebas. Tell me do we have an answer yet?
