Sam always made him laugh, and it amazed him just how easy it was for her to do it. Jersey? Where the hell did she come up with this stuff. With a grin on his lips, he quickly sent a reply back to her.

I didn’t know you were down with the street talk.
I’m sure someone in Miami says toots.
Seems like you have a heavy burden with the word. Care to talk about your feelings?

Laughter, it seemed that was a very important part of their friendship. The banter between them was always light and fun. Damn he couldn’t remember the last time had fun. Miami was indeed a city with booming night life, but with the wrong people, that night life became more depressing than enjoyable. Well, in the last few months it was that way. The beginning before he met his girlfriend had been fine. She put a more serious swing to the atmosphere. Then again she was a woman with a mission and he had been her target. It was a bit unnerving for him to say. He really did enjoy the woman’s company when she remembered to let loose and stop stressing. But, that was often a rare moment or at least it had been lately. This was another reason Alex was soundly convinced he was better off alone than mixed up with a broad. Sam’s light was blinking along with Termira’s.

I honestly forgot you helped with the boxes!
Haha no need to get your feathers in a huff Wonder Woman.
You can help me decorate see…there problem solved.

Well the problem was solved for him because he would much rather have Sam decorate than have to do it himself. Alex was man enough to admit matching things weren’t his expertise. But, he trusted Sam. As a painter she would be able to spot the colors that would work right with the lighting in his house. He wondered if she ever thought about opening her own design company just for kicks. Wasn’t that the in thing? People got hired just to re-arrange a room or an entire house and apparently the money was worth it, just for splattering a few colors of paint and re-arranging furniture. Alex opened Temira’s box and let out a sigh of frustration!

        Give me a break woman!

His fingers moved with quick across the keyboard. It was obvious the man was clearly agitated with the messages that popped up on the screen.

        But, have you seen her?
No..I haven’t seen her, yet. I’m planning on heading over to her place right now.
        Oh really.
Yes, really. I’ve told you time and time again she’s my best friend.
And, I’ve told you time and time again that I don’t like it.
So what is it you want me to do Temira huh? If you’ve got some crazy notion that I’m going to stop talking to my best friend to make you feel more secure about who knows what…then you’d better think again.
You can be such a jerk.
        Yeah…tell me something new.
When are you going to see her?
As soon as I sign off. Look I already told you it’s no big deal. If I wanted to be with her and not you I would have already been with her. But, clearly I’m with you. So stop sweating me with this same old s**t. It’s pissing me off.
        I just don’t trust her.
        You don’t even know her!
        Yeah, that’s why I don’t trust her…..

It was an old argument. Alex realized his first mistake was telling Temira that his best friend was female. Things were going smooth up until that point. She never asked him questions about being online frequently nor who he was talking to until that one day he mentioned Sammy bear. Naturally, she wondered who that was and he with his big a** mouth blurted it out to her while laughing at something Sam type to him. He stayed glue to his computer for almost an hour just chatting and laughing with Sam. Shortly after that conversation it seemed every conversation with Sam created an argument. He often pointed out she hadn’t fussed about him being online before. But, she told him she never thought he was talking to a female all that time and of course she would be jealous what woman wouldn’t be jealous when their boyfriend was spending time online chatting with his best friend when he could be spending time with her.

That was when his internet hours changed. Alex never went online when Temira was around. He didn’t explain it all to Sam he just chalked it up to different hours, events and whatever other foolishness he could come up with. He wasn’t about to let outside interference create problems in the relationship he had with Sam, whose box was once again blinking. Temira forgotten for the moment Alex couldn’t help but smile! SCORE!!!! Sam was going to cook for him. He loved it when she cooked. What made him laugh was the way she got so serious as if she had great plans. The food was always great though even if she didn’t think so.

For food..I’ll be over in ten minutes!
Yeah I still remember where the key is. Though I can’t believe you still left it there.
Alright Sammy B….I’ll be there in a jiffy.

Alex closed out Sam’s box and then sent a few words of goodbye to Temira before he signed out of messenger and closed his computer. Locking the house up behind him, he jogged to the car and was back on the road less than a minute later. It took him more than ten minutes to get from his place to Chinatown, but eventually he made it there. Parking choices were slim, but he managed a spot close enough to Sam’s apartment. Locking the car up he headed towards the apartment, paying for some white daises on his way over. Alex felt around for the key in it’s ‘usual’ spot. With key and flowers in hand he headed inside the building and up to Sam’s apartment. Even with the key he knocked as he unlocked the door. There were some habits that were just hard to break. Alex recalled unlocking the door one time to see Sam in her undies. That had been unexpected and boy did she squeal like a girl. He laughed as he tugged the key out the door, walking into the apartment he kicked it close behind him, “ Sammy B….Papa Bear is back home!"
