Have you ever seen someone that either really liked something, anything at all, or had a deep interest in something and chose to investigate it and learn everything they could about it? There's nothing wrong with this, but it becomes a problem when these people see or go looking for someone that isn't as knowledgeable in that field as they are and take every oppurtunity they can find to show their knowledge on that field, which may not be half as much as they think it is.
I've seen people, let's say a fanboy of a game franchise, that will jump on anyone asking a question or making a point about said franchise spewing out useless information about it like a human oil drill that hit a septic tank and generally puffing themselves up with delusions of grandure for knowing a little bit more about something than someone else.
Sometimes, these people give a magazine's worth of information that isn't even remotely accurate, like saying zombies, as many branches and distinctions as there apparently are, can only be one of those certain types with no indication as to why besides youth's (or a nazi's) golden rule. But if no one points out their inaccuracy, be it a sensible person that sees the flaw or yet another "expert", they get that same feeling of satisfaction while they drown themselves in smugness.
If someone does point it out, they tend to go into a state I like to call "fanboy rabid", often showing symtoms of
-needless and idiotic swearing
-more useless and irrelevant "facts"
-arguements that don't really support their cause
-strange use of capslock if online
-generally talking like a pretentious t@%t
When the foam leaves their mouths, they tend to go right back to smugness, usually with thoughts of "I showed them", oblivious to what actually took place.
Even when they are right, it's still obnoxious and rude to go around verbally clubbing everyone that may have missed a slight, unimportant detail, espcially when no one asked for a second opinion.
However, if someone does ask for a correction of some sort, by all means, give it to them as long as your information is on key and you don't make an a** of yourself doing so.
BOTTOM LINE: If you want to know a lot about something, that's fine, if you want to spread that information, that's fine, but if you want to do so in a manner that puffs you up and mocks everyone else, I advise you give yourself a saltwater douche, because you're quite probobly a c$&t.
That's this week's rant, I'm Varmeip, Goodnight.
P.S.
As of today, I have been ranting about the world for a whole year. Hooray!
I may keep ranting for a little while, but A few days after the mmo comes out, (I was told it was this week) I may cease entirely.
