I read a little bit in Jakobo's thread in GCD about transparency in communication in online communities. I kind of wanted to post there, but I felt that it was best to leave it to those who'd be more objective about the subject and not get overly emotional.
Facilitating communication and understanding between various people is something that I've always endeavored to do. In fact, those who've known me for a while and remember some of the things that I've done on Gaia can probably see where that's an element in almost everything that I was heavily involved in.
I was happy to see Florentine's posts in Jakobo's thread. Reminds me of trying to keep the stickies to a minimum in forums by poking developers and admins about stickies that were out-dated, trying to keep the Problems thread in Q&A clean, and finding time to update the DI sticky now and then... back when I was a mod. Sadly, most of what I did in that regard was both time-consuming and unappreciated... which may have largely contributed to my reasons for resigning as a moderator.
In any case, I could write a lot more about that, but I'm likely to get overly passionate and perhaps say some things I shouldn't... so I'll move on to more personal updates....
For anyone who hasn't caught this yet... I joined convention staff for FanimeCon two years ago. My first year I was a Rover, the next year I was a Rover and a dept. head for panels... this, my third year on staff, I'm both of those (though Rover's aren't Rovers anymore... which still seems weird) plus Division 2nd for Live Programming... hopefully giving people a little less to 'Blame Ebner' for. (Jason Ebner is the Division head for Live Programming... it's a con joke.)
I've been really busy lately with trying to keep up with previously planned or hastily planned social events, all of the Fanime Convention stuff, plus just regular work and all the little everyday stuff. Program Guide deadline is coming up for Fanime, so this weekend I'll be spending a lot of time making sure I have all the descriptions squared away for panels and a few other things for the program guide as well.
In the midst of this... I'm also attempting to get more exercise by riding my bicycle... oh yeah, and let's not forget Taiko class on Friday nights. (Plus 7th Sea game on thursday nights... oye.)
I did manage to read some Prince of Tennis manga... one of our guests this year at Fanime is a voice actor from PoT and I felt a bit odd not even knowing what the story was about. I didn't get to watch the anime, so I guess I still haven't viewed the work the guest has done, but at least I know what the story is about now.

I've also been trying to finish various games in my spare time, since I vowed not to buy any more games until I'd finished at least five of the ones I already own. Since today is a rest and recharge day, I spent part of my morning today playing Pokemon Revolution and beating the next coliseum. That leaves only two more coliseums in the game to beat! I'm also close to finishing FFIII on my DS. I just need to level up one more job to master level, get all the legendary weapons, and then go through the final area of the game. Then I'll only need to finish two more games before I can buy a new one. ;-; I obviously haven't got enough time for gaming.
I think that's it for now. I need to go shower and clean up my room and work on panel stuff and .. and... and... ^^;; it's already 8pm?

I hope we will find a way to strengthen our communication lines soon somehow.
I have been craving a good long bike ride, lately, myself. I hope you see some nice things on your trips. ^_^
