New Items are Useless when you can't Customize
meh
So... the March MC's are out. Uh-huh. Well, honestly... there's no point in getting them. Not for me. I mean, I like a few of the poses, sure. The cheshire cat is cool, and being a big smile is neat.

But my avatar customization is still broken. It's been breaking regularly for a while now, every time I add new items to my inventory. Fiddling with the inventory arranger is time-consuming and annoying. Having to shrink my inventory to fewer and fewer items every time customization breaks is also time-consuming and annoying.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show. What's the point in buying new items when for every new item I add I have to give up 5 others? (That's an average. Sometimes it's more, sometimes less.)

I'm really sick of this. I'm tired of struggling with the inventory arranger. I'm tired of customization working only long enough for me to get one new outfit onto my avatar and then breaking again.

This has been a problem for months and months now, and it's growing steadily worse.

Every time I see "New Cash Shop Items!", "New MC's!", "New Advertising Quests!", "New This!", "New That!"... I go, 'what's the use in constantly releasing hundreds of new items when I can't #@$#)(*$)#(!* USE the items that I already have?'

Honestly, they need to either assign an honest-to-goodness limit on the number of items in your inventory, so that you have a number below which everything works, or they need to fix this problem.

Yeah, I'm complaining. Perhaps I'm even whining. But with the trend in Gaia towards 'profits are paramount!', the only thing I enjoy on this site is collecting items for my avatar and dressing her up, and I haven't been able to do that without putting hours of work and tons of effort into it for nigh on six months now.

I know this is a known problem. Obviously it's a problem other people have too.
Oh wait.. I forgot.. =) Until it's widespread enough to affect their sales, they won't bother to make it a priority. Right.

...

Send them a letter explaining the problem, along with something like a $20 or $50 bill. It may or may not help.

Have you tried changing browsers? And how many items do you have in your inventory?

Not long ago, I actually got my inventory under 800 items. I did it by putting every single MC I don't wear regularly into Storage or onto my mules, and every single item that I want to keep but haven't saved on my avatar in more than (roughly) six months.

It was nice.

I'm over 1000 items again. :/

Stupid starter set update. xp

Kayura: I've tried different computers, different browsers, etc. I'm an old hand at bug testing, so those are generally the things I try first.

How many items do I have? Way too many. =)

But a year ago, my inventory could be at 1200 items and have no issues.

These days, I've heard of people having this issue with as few as 500 items.

These days, they're releasing about 50-200 items per month, depending if there's an NPC store update that month or not.

So it's hard to keep inventories under various limits... you see Rayi's comment... she increased nearly 200 items in one month.

I don't expect them to do anything about it just because I don't like it. I expect that until this becomes enough of a problem that several thousand users are having issues and it can no longer be ignored, that it will be ignored.

When I feel like being reasonable, I'll even grant that it's possible they've already tried to fix it, but haven't yet themselves been able to figure out what the problem is.

Regardless of all that though, everytime new items come out, I'm just more frustrated. I can't use what I have without a lot of effort and time involved, and I want to collect items, but it only causes more difficulty everytime I get them, so I can't really enjoy them.

And since that's the way I enjoy this site, it's really affecting my desire to be here at all. What's the point of earning gold if I'm not going to buy new items because when I do, my inventory will break again?

So, that's all I'm saying. =)

This is a real problem I've seen with Gaia. Don't get me wrong, Gaia's a great website but the staff seems to be a bit cocky when it comes to new things. There's other sites that don't release nearly as many new features, but when they do release something, it works. Gaia's staff seems to think that if they release enough new things, people will over look all the problems that exist with them.
