Between myself and Mandi (She keeps saying Princess doesn't exist... but I think she could be a princess/knight in shining armor if she wanted to. XD ) I did some editing, strictly out of want for it to flow nicely and grammatically correct.
It was a small town, with not much in it but flowers, trees, and people with absolutely no sense of humor. It's where Jake grew up, though, and he still called it home... Even if there was a whole lot of nothing to do, this town still meant everything to Jake. He sighed, curious as to what the world would hold in store for him today, whether it be more verbal slander or physical abuse. He didn't care, he lived his life how it was given to him. After hours of mindless wanderings, he found himself once again before the old Carruther's mansion, sighing at the drabness of the building. "If only we could claim it was haunted," he mumbled. "Then we'd get some business in this town." He knew that there would be lots of buisness because tourists were always looking for a good story to share on their return home from there travels. Sometimes there was even good money in selling ghost stories. You just needed to know the right people. And he knew the right people. There was this one guy down on Flag Ave. that could help him. He decided he was going to spice up his life, rather than wait for the spice to come to him, and he darted off to Jonathan's house to talk about... ghosts. Ghosts just happened to be one of his favorite subjects. Luckily, one of Jonathan's too. As he raced up the front steps of Jonathan's house he found himself wondering about how to create a great and chilling ghost story. Jonathan would know better than anyone else would, he thought. Jonathan answered the door practically before Jake got there, causing Jake to come skidding to a halt and almost collide with his friend. "Goddamn, Jon!" he hollered. "You always gotta do stuff like that? You just read my mind or something?" "That depends," Jonathan responded, ushering him in. "You here about ghosts?" "Yes, yes I am here about ghosts. I have an idea on how to go about making a little bit of money if we can do this right. I want to know in advanced if you are willing to help me out." Jake said, looking at Jonathan with icy eyes. "Of course, what kind of person do you think I am? You know how I feel about ghosts and such. Don't be a moron..." Jonathan said with a chuckle. "Now, what is it that you want to know?" Jake smiled wickedly and pressed the palms of his hands to each other, a trait he'd had since kindergarden. "How about," he started, "we get this town back on the map? There's so many old places here, but not one single story to put this place up in big neon lights. Can you imagine? If we started a haunting, we could make the town rich again." "Well," Jonathan gave Jake a way gaze. "It's also possible to blow up in our faces and we could be put away for false advertising..." He shrugged. "Consider the poss'es man." "Damn dude... I hadn't thought of that. But I want to keep thinking on the postive side of things. I really want this town to be something again, you know what I'm saying? Think about it! We can always check out some of these things ourselves... we could camp out for a couple of days in the old haunted mansion up the road... see if there really are any good stories to be told..." Jake said looking at Jonathan with hopeful eyes. "Please, just think of the postives..." Jonathan looked at his friend and chuckled a bit. "You really are a nutjob, aren't you Jake. You realize the dangers of that place? You have got to be a moron to think about staying there... but the opportunity to dig up a good story, yeah, I guess that it's worth it. What is it that you had in mind?" "Umm," he hadn't actually thought of that. What exactly could they do? Then, it dawned on him. "Well," he started. "Make it simple, man. First thing's first. Let's do some research on some of these older places. Combined, you and I can dig up some good s**t... Then, we put that all together and create a ghost story. Camp out at the places and claim to have felt 'sinister beings' and start spreading the news. A few fudged photos could help. EVPs aren't that hard to fake, are they?" "Human voice readout is much higher than an EVP," Jonathan admitted. "But it could be done." "And we should probably get a couple more people to help us out too..." Jake said, looking at Jonathan. "A couple of girls... for 'purposes'..." he added, smiling. He knew that Jonathan would get a kick out of that. Girls, ghosts, guns... the things that had made them happy growing up. "Fair enough. What else do you think is important?" "Oh come on!" Jake shouted, smacking Jonathan a little harder than necessary upside the head. "What am I? The brains of this outfit? Think of stuff yourself, dude!" He started to pace. "It shouldn't be too hard. All we have to do is make sure we don't get caught." "And that none of the girls rat us out..." Jonathan put in. "And that," Jake agreed, coming to a stop at the fireplace. "Course, we could just not tell them we're pretending to begin with." "You always were a snake in the grass..." Jonathan said with a hearty laugh. "And what if one of them finds out? Then what to you plan to do smart-a**?" Jake shrugged. "I don't know... pay her to shut her up?" "WITH WHAT MONEY?" Jonathan said loudly. "C'mon man, use your head!" Jake shrugged, not entirely sure how to answer that one. "We... cross that bridge when we get to it," he offered. "And hope the chick don't burn it behind us," Jonathan agreed, slapping hands with Jake. "So," he said, slapping his hands together. "When do we start?" "Tonight," Jake decided. "Go get a few chicks, some ghost junk... I'll go do the research. It should be fine. Meet me at my place with the girls and supplies tonight at eight." And with that, Jake turned and left the house, not even another word back at his accomplice. So, they had their entire plan in order. Now all that there was left to do was wait. It would be a long wait but totally worth it. He wondered who it was that was going to get the girls, him or Jonathan. Shrugging to no one in particular, he continued to walk down the street, eyeing their soon-to-be camp grounds. What if it was really haunted in that old manison... and some pretty sketchy things did happen? He didn't want to think about it right then and there, for his mind was more set on all the excitement and potentially great stories that he and Jonathan could develop. He wondered who it was he would sell these ghost stories to, how much he would sell them for, and who would believe them. Then again, they would probably want a little bit of background information on where such stories came from. That building was a forbidden building to go into. Jake hadn't thought of that before. At this point, he was beginning to feel like an a*****e. He should have thought the plans through a little better than he had, and he wouldn't be having the problems that he was having right now. He was kicking his own a** in the back of his head, and he knew exactly why. He was always told that out of all of his friends that he was always going to be the tragic hero of the bunch, realizing his flaws much too late. Shockingly, as Jake was wandering around and berating himself, Jonathan followed through with two girls from their class, both blonde and big-boobed, his kind of girls, and the equipment. He called Jake up on the cell phone as he settled onto his couch between the two chattering girls, who were already scared out of their minds. "So, like," one of them, Cassandra, whispered to her friend. "There's gonna be actual ghosts and we could get totally haunted or killed?" "I didn't think ghosts could, like, kill you, Cassie," Priscilla responded, making Jonathan's ears almost bleed. He loved how ditzy and easy these two girls were probably going to end up, but he hated that Valley Girl talk, and he vowed that if they didn't come in contact with any ghoulies, he'd personally scare the s**t outta them... after he got some good sex in. "Hey, yeah?" Jake asked as he answered his cell, pulling Jonathan out of his mental murder spree. "Oh, what up, man? Get in yet?" "********, no," Jake whined. "It's a ******** forbidden building. For-bidden." "So," Jonathan shrugged it off, bringing one hand to rest on Cassie's knee. "Break in." "Dude... you so totally did not ask Cassie and Priscilla to go with us on this..." Jake said, on one end of the line. "Sorry... but they were the only one's who were... well... yeah..." Jonathan responded looking at both girls. "Look, have you found a way in yet?" "Yeah... I have to go in through the back way though... so if you want to see a little bit of B and E, you better drag your a** down here quickly. Or I'mma start without you." "Okay, give me fifteen minutes... I gotta grab a couple of things and I'll be on my way." Jonathan hung up before Jake could even get his last word in. "Showtime ladies..." he said, and completed a mad rush around the house grabbing all the things that he and Jake had planned on grabbing. Walking down the path to the old mansion, Cassie and Priscilla held hands. just like typical Valley Girls. It still made Jonathan cringe when they spoke, but they were both fairly easy girls. He looked at Jake. "So, what do you have in mind?" Jake pointed to his left. "See that brick?" "Yeah..." Jonathan looked at Jake, knowing exactly what was on his mind. "Watch this..." Jake said as he picked it up. "Like no way. Totally no way..." Cassie had said. Priscilla clung to her arm and nodded in agreement. This was the kind of s**t that Jake had to put up with when it came to girls. Jonathan had made an excelent point. Breaking in would be fun and great for a rush. Searching the area around him, he picked up a brick and tossed it over the fence. In a quick and singular motion, Jake went over the fence too. He looked at Jonathan with his "let's do this" eyes, and headed towards the mansion. Jonathan looked at Cassie and Priscilla. "You two wait right here. We'll be back to get you when we find a way in!" he said and hurtled over the fence after Jake, chasing after him. Cassie looked at Priscilla. "If they weren't so totally hot, I would not be here right now... this place is like totally gross!" she said. Priscilla screamed as a spider crawled lazily in front of her. Out of all the things that two of them hated the most, spiders or any kind of bug, made them scream. "I don't know Cassie... they may be cute... but this place is still way gross. I really want to go home..." she said, adjusting her top that seemed to be a couple of sizes to small. Her breasts were kind of spilling out of it. Jonathan and Jake were now at the backside of the building, looking at the huge stain-glass door. Jake, with a sinister smile hurled the brick as hard as he could and shattered one complete pain of glass from the door. Impressed by his work, he smiled as Jonathan clapped. "I'll go inside and set things up, you go get the girls..." he said, disappearing into the mansion. Jonathan nodded and went to retrieve the girls. As Jonathan disappeared back around the building, Jake ducked inside, finding a candlabra and lighting it. That seemed to work, so he continued on his way, exploring all the rooms and determining every nook and cranny for "investigation." Jonathan came around the corner and smiled at Cassie and Priscilla. "Hey ladies, ready to go inside?" he asked mischievously. "I'll hold you if you get scared." "Yeah right," Cassie said, trying to muster up her strength. She still clung to Priscilla's hands though. And Priscilla didn't speak at all as the two followed Jonathan back around the house and inside the busted door. "Ewww... Jonathan it's all dirty in here..." Priscilla whined. "This is so gross..." Jonathan rolled his eyes. Christ... whine, b***h, and complain... a typical female... he thought. Cassie bumped into him. "Sorry Jonathan..." she said in a quiet voice. "Don't worry about it..." he said. He was not looking forward to the lameness of their female company, but he would deal with it. At least things were going to look a little more promising by the time the late night came around. "Jake you crazy b*****d! Where are you?" Jake didn't respond to Jonathan's call. He was upstairs, looking through some of the old bedrooms and determining his line of attack. Breathlessly, he pulled an antique chest out from under one bed, causing it to groan and squeak against the ancient floorboards. He figured the sound might add an element of fear to the girls downstairs, so he pulled it a little further, making the screech longer and louder, before opening the chest and looking through its contents. Priscilla jumped and grasped onto Jonathan's arms, hugging herself to him from the front while Cassie grabbed at him from behind. He raised his eyes to the sky and mouthed a soft, Thank you, Jake. Thank you so very much, before he turned back to the girls and smiled reassuringly. "The welcome team," he said. "They must have already gotten Jake. We should be careful." "Wh-wha-what do you mean?" Cassie said nervously. Jonathan smiled. "I meant what I said. We just have to be careful. Now, stay close ladies, or something bad could happen..." he said in a dark voice. Jake was already having a blast with the girls and for a second he had Jonathan convinced too. Luckily for him, they had been friends forever so they knew all about each other's little pranks. Priscilla grabbed a hold of Jonathan's hand, taking him by suprise. Okay... now come out of hiding and scare the s**t out of them again... I could use a little bit of entertainment right now... Jake came through. As he finished digging through the chest, he slid it back under the bed, the squeaking noise grinding his ears. He draped the old and tattered bathrobe he'd found around his shoulders, checking himself in the mirror. He went to the vanity and found some old powder. He shrugged and patted himself off with the stuff, making his skin pasty white. He picked up the candlabra and wandered back out of the room and down the steps with a heavy tread. Jonathan was starting to wonder if Jake had even decided to do anything when Cassie grabbed onto his arm and screamed a blood-curdling scream into his left ear. He slapped his hand over his ear and glared at Cassie, who pointed at the stairs. Jonathan looked up to find Jake descending the stairs slowly, his eyes downcast and his skin pasty white. For a split moment, he actually thought that maybe something had happened to Jake. Cassie continued to squeeze the life out of his arm while Priscilla buried her face into his chest. "Jake?" Jonathan asked, putting a great tremor in his voice that sounded real. "Jake, is that you? C'mon man... They didn't actually... Ghosts can't kill people, can they?" Jake looked up as he got to the bottom stair, and nodded slowly. "I guess they can," he said, his voice deep, low and sad. "And they're coming for you next." He pointed at Cassie. She screamed again as a light flashed at her and she turned to see a glowing form behind her. It was Jake's reflection in a mirror, but she was temporarily blinded by the flashlight he'd shined in her eyes, and she continued to scream. "Oh my God! Jake! NO! Make them stop! PLEASE!" At this point, it was becoming rather difficult for Jake to keep his composure. The fact that Cassie had a big mouth and an obnoxious scream ruined all the fun in the joke. Finallly having enough of it, he snapped back into the bitter reality of screaminng girls and his best friend trying to pry one of them off his arm. "Christ Cassie calm down! Jesus, talk about a joke gone wrong!" Jonathan glared at him. "You're a p***k dude. But that had to be the funniest thing I've seen in a long time. Hell, you had me convinced something had happened." He had finally managed to pry Cassie's hands of his arm and start to get the blood circulating again. He looked over at her with a tiny disapproving scowl, then looked back at Jake and shook his head. "You find anything worth while?" Cassie looked at Priscilla with a sad look on her face, then turned her gaze back on Jake. "I hate you!" she yelled, and went back over to her friend, hiding behind her. She was mad that Jake had made her seem like an idiot. Looking at Jonathan, Jake shook his head. "If I did, I'm not telling you. That's my secret. Now, let's find a place to set up our s**t, and explore this place a little more, what do you say?" Jonathan grinned widely. "I'm up for that." "I don't care..." Priscilla said in a soft voice. She seemed to have the slightest interest in what was going on. "I'll keep Cassie close to me so you guys don't scare her too much more."
My turn's next... >.>
