I am falling apart.
As we speak, my eyes fall from their sockets,
from all the horrible things I’ve seen,
and no longer wish to see.
As we speak, my tongue falls from my mouth,
forever silencing all the things I’ve said,
and those I didn’t mean to say.
As I listen, my legs detach from my body,
Saving me from having to walk,
All of those horrible miles, all alone.
As I listen, my hands fall from my arms,
ending all those horrible things I wrote,
and all of the things I never meant to write.
And as I listen, my ears fall from my body,
saving me from listening to those sounds,
screaming, disappointment, and discontent.
And as I feel you there,
My lungs fall from my chest,
ending those sharp breaths,
so painful as I suffocated.
And as I feel you there,
My brain falls from my skull,
ending all of those terrible thoughts
thoughts that made me hate myself.
And as you hold me tight,
My heart falls from my ribcage,
Ending all of those times my heart bled for you,
And ending the way I loved you so.
And as a corpse lies dead at your feet,
you stride casually toward the door,
pretending that you weren’t the one who
