I tried to write a love poem,
Sitting here as I thought about you,
I tried to spell out a sonnet,
But mere words just would not do.
I tried to put it on paper,
The song that my heart would sing,
I tried to explain it all,
But it proved quite a difficult thing.
I tried to pick up the telephone,
To call and say it was so,
I tried to force my voice to describe it,
But I’m not good at such things- you know.
I tried to clarify it with a touch,
Or perhaps with a gentle embrace,
I tried to convey it with a glance
But I’m not sure you read it from my face.
I tried to create a love poem,
In case you doubted that it was true,
I tried to jot down a sonnet,
But all I came up with is ‘I love you’.

Wow, a nice poem...but only at the request of someone near and dear to me.
Do NOT grow accustomed to it.
Understood?
