I'm a type of person that wears Hot Topic clothes, you know, the Tripp Brand and some of my favorite bands T-Shirts, such as Slipknot, and head. I guess this plays a big part in what I'm about to say.
So, I get dressed today and head down to the convienient store across the street to get some snacks and Mountain Dew. It seems, once I hit the sidewalk to cross the street. Everyone hanging out on the sidewalk in front of the store, that were sitting on benches or waiting to get a ride somewhere, stopped what they were doing and just looked at me, like I was some kind of wierd amorphous blob slithering across. I easily felt all of the eyes on me. But, being the person I am that doesn't give a about anyone else, I just went on my merry way. Mind you, that everyone peering at me was dressed in the stereotypical Old Navy . So, as I'm trying to say, they were all pretty preppy looking.
As I got back to my room thinking about it, I came to a conclusion. When people see something that is anything other than the norm, all they can do is stop and stare. Anything they don't understand, they fear, or ignore. I must be one of those people, an untouchable, a goddamn monster sent to plague the Earth with my own day-to-day activities. GOD FORBID! that I just go on with my life without anyone staring at me like that. What ever happened to the first ammendment of expressing yourself however you want, which means wearing, speaking, and writing what you want? I'm definitely dressing how I want, but I wish I could do it without biased attitudes towards me. Few people actually are willing to talk to me, those people are my friends, the ones with open minds and can accept that anyone can do what they want. I'm not saying that people aren't supposed to look at me strangely, they can if they want, but if they don't want to me off, they shouldn't make it so obvious.
Ok, my rant, and idea for the day is done. I feel better now. And I people a little bit more now, eek !
