New York was great. There's so much to do there. It reminds me a little bit of Chicago, but there are some aspects that seperate the two. In New York people put their garbage on the streets in front of their apartment buildings or shops. Emma got a picture of this I think.....also there is no grass whatsoever (except in parks)! It's ALL paved. New York has so many different ethnic groups living there/visiting. When walking down the streets I would always hear different languages. It sort of made me feel like I wasn't even in America. That is, until I read the signs and stuff (since it's all in English). So here's what my days were like in New York City (particulary Manhatten)
Day 1
We arrived at our hotel in Chelsea, and then immediately went out to lunch. We went to this really cool place called "Cafeteria." It was almost completely white in there with TeChNo MuSiC! After that we walked around. We went through Greenwich Village and shopped around there. Emma and I got these funny pins at this one store. We then made our way down into Soho. It was awesome there. We went to so many little vintage shops and stuff. I got this yellow, oriental dress thingy, and Emma got really cool pink and white boots. Before going to dinner, we stopped at Voges. It's this chocolate bar. We got lots of chocolate, and exotic hot chocolate too. We went to my cousins apartment, afterwards. From there, we went out to dinner with her, to this really nice Japanese restaurant called "Ginger." I got this anago roll with mango in it. It was really REALLY good! Finally, we went back to the hotel, and got to bed at like.....midnight.
Day 2
Let's see.......day two....................on our second day in New York City we went to get tickets for Spamalot, however. Then, we walked down the crazy seizure light street.... BROADWAY!!! It was WAY too commercial for my liking. stare From Broadway we walked down to 5th Avenue which is sort of like Chicago's Michigan Avenue. We window shopped there, and then walked like about 1/3 or Central Park. Then, we went to the Metropolitan. It's this big art museum. We checked out the modern art exhibit, and also this one exhibit called "Glitter and Doom." It was all of these 1920's German portraits or something like that. It was really cool too. Then, we went back to the hotel, and got changed for dinner. We tried walking to the restaraunt we had reservations for, but we were too late that by the time we reached Greenwich Village it we were already going to be like fifteen or twenty minutes late if we walked any longer. We got a cab, and met my cousin at the restaurant. It was a really cool restaurant with GREAT food. I got the steak that was slobbered with peppercorns. Emma and my mom got the lobster, and my cousin, Jennifer, got the salmon. It was a great night. We then went back to the hotel, and got to bed really late AGAIN.
Day 3
Our third day was really fun. We woke up.....got dressed......and went to this awesome comic book store. It's called, "Forbidden Planet." They had a really good section of American comics, and an even better section of MANGA!!! Zeta, you would freak out. They had bookshelf dedicated to yaoi comics! Emma got this Pita-Ten book, and I got the 3rd Cynical Orange (which was great by the way). I wanted to get this Naruto ninja head band there, but didn't. I'll always regret that.... neutral I forget where we went to lunch....then we shopped for shoes.........and stuffs................................................and then we got our make up done at this place called "M.A.C." Yes, I got my make up done.........but it wasn't anything crazy. Just natural colors that wouldn't really show up. Emma got crazy colors, and my mom got.....well....."mom" colors! We were then late for dinner again and just stopped by this one place, and my cousin met us again. And I got this spicy chili that was really good, but really spicy. Then, we went to SPAMALOT!!!!!!!! My second time seeing it.......even better than the first. It was so funny. Anyone who hasn't seen it.....definately something you should be looking into doing!
Day 4
The day we left New York was pretty cool. I mean, we had almost the whole day since our flight home was at 7:00 pm or so. We woke up......got dressed........got breakfast.......................I freaked out about not getting the ninja headband....stopped by the "Good Will" in New York, and Emma and I got really cool combat boots..........(Emma just realized she got two right-foot shoes!)......... I freaked out even more about the ninja thingy.....we packed........went to my cousin's work (she's in the fashion business).........I freaked out even more about the ninja headband..............went out to a bunch of ribbon and tinsel, and button stores..........got lunch........went to this really cool library.........I freaked out EVEN MORE..................went back to my cousin's studio..................stayed for awhile.............got in our cab.......headed to the airport...........I got my bag checked in security................sat around and drew for awhile.......got on our plane...............the plane had like only 10 passengers on it..........14 in all couting the flight stewardessess....well more like stewards........and the captain, and co-pilot...........................................got home.........got our luggage........dragged it around trying to find where our car was parked...........drove Emma home..........got home........went on the computer for a bit........went to bed. Isn't that just great?! Everything was except for the coming home part..........I liked New York..... sad
The best part about New York was that we were in a gay community. Isn't that just great? Emma would freak out whenever we passed a rainbow-mens-whatever store. Well....she didn't really freak out like in being scared or anything...NO WAY!!! It was more of a joyous thing really.......I don't know.
Anywho, New York was awesome. I loved it so much. I'd totally go back there again!!
