Mat and I broke up some time at the end of February/beginning of March, and he moved out the 15th of April. He took the snake, his truck, the feeder mice, etc. I got to keep the cats, Max and Alice, and my own belongings.
We hadn't been getting along for a while, and it became increasingly clear that he didn't really love me. I mean, the texting another girl all during our anniversary dinner should have spelled it out for me, the lack of a Valentine's Day anything should have slapped me in the face-- and it did. The somewhat distant way he helped me deal with my stepfather's passing in January should have also set off flags. In a way, I think it did-- I realized that life is short, and I was unhappy. I'm guessing he was unhappy too. So, we broke up.
I'm fine, don't worry about me. It still smarts a little, but I've got a new boyfriend named Anthony who's helping me through this. Unfortunately, he's also from Texas-- makes me wonder what I see in those guys, lol. He started off as a friend, and before anyone goes cursing him, he tried to convince me to stay with Mat. If it weren't for him, I'd have probably kicked Mat out a lot sooner, but Anthony tried so hard to help me make things work. In the end, I think this is best. Mat gets to be alone as much as he wants, and I get to breathe again.
